Abstract
What is children in the context of law.
It's important to have legal definition of "children" to prevent
confusion and misuse.
Child Act 2001 specifically defines children as a person under
age of 18 years old.

Introduction
In Malaysia, Courts For Children were established by the Child Act
2001.
The Children's Court was originally known as the Juvenile Court.
Juveniles are defined in the Juvenile Court Act Juvenile 1947 as a
person who has reached the age of criminal responbility set out
under section 82 of the Penal Code.
Juvenile Court later chaged its name to the Court For Children.
The Children Act 2001 was gazzeted on 1 March 2001 and enforced
on 1 August 2002 repealed the Juvenile Court Act 1947

Sitting for the purpose of hearing, determining, or
disposing of any charge against a child
Exercising any other jurisdiction conferred or to be
conferred on Courts For Children

Composed of a magistrate and if the situation

Powers of Court
For Children
Admonish and discharge the child.
Discharge the child upon his executing bond to
be of good behaviour
Order the child to be placed in the care of
relative for such a period to be specified by the
Court.
Order the child to pay a fine, compensation, or
cost.
Order the child to be sent to an approved
school or a Henry Gurney School.
Make a probation order under section 98.

Child aged 14 years old or above shall not be allowed to imprisoned
together with adult prisoners.
A child below of age 14 years old shall not be ordered to be imprisoned if

Sentence of death should not be pronounced or recorded when the
offence was commited by a child.
