NARRATIVE REPORT
on
S. Y. 2015-2016 Earthquake Drill

Our country has been plagued with number of natural calamities such as
volcanic eruptions, devastating typhoons, flash floods, and earthquakes.

As defined earthquakes are sudden rolling or shaking events caused by

movements under the earth’s surface. It happens along cracks in the earth’s surface
called fault lines and can be felt over large areas, it usually last less than a minute.
Earthquakes cannot be predicted although scientist are working on it.
Last June 8, 2015 at 9:00 in the morning the school conducted an earthquake
drill which was participated eagerly by everyone. As the buzzer was heard in the
entire campus the students duck from their sits and look for coverings for any
possible falling objects during the calamity. They were advised not to stand to avoid
potential danger or severe damage . After a few minutes when it was already cleared
they all cautiously went outside from their classrooms and proceed to the assigned
evacuation area which was believe the safest place in the school.

Earthquakes are quit unique challenges for schools. Unlike other natural man-
made hazards because it occur with no warning. Schools cannot be enclosed in
advance, nor evacuated. However, with proper training and planning in advance,
everyone can be prepared to react appropriately during and after an earthquake.

Through the activity conducted the students were given an overview of what
is an earthquake and how one should react during such calamities. As William
Shakespeare had said “ All things are ready if our mind be so” therefore we should
open our mind to the many possibilities that may occur in our life and in our
environment for nothing is certain in this world. We should bare it in our mind not to
forget the 2P’s, which is Prepare in order to Protect property and life.
