Installation of Firefighting system:

1. Mark the routing of pipe work on slab/concrete according to approved shop drawings.

2. Fix hangers and supports according to approved shop drawings.

3. The type of jointing method shall be socket welded for sizes 50mm and smaller , Butt
welding for sizes 65mm and larger.

4. Painting pipes; Ensure that the surface is free of dust and all other contaminants before
proceeding for painting, apply wash primer with brush and rolling brush as first coat on pipe,
apply topcoat red enamel paint with brush and rolling brush, give sufficient time for drying to
touch and to fully cure.

5. Carry out hydro test as follows:

i) Local water supply will be used as a test media. Pressurizing hand or electric pump will be
used for pressurizing each completed line to the required test pressure.

ii) Test head with pressure gauge and Valve connection to the pressure pump shall be
connected to the installation.

After finishing the mounting of pipes the section to be tested of system will be tested with
pressure of 150% of operated pressure in the pipe line.

iii) Before testing the section all air must be vented.

iv) All valves in the lines shall be in an open position during testing.

v) All open pipes will be closed with plugs/Sprinklers.

vi) Do not use piping system valves to isolate sections where test pressure exceeds valve
pressure rating.

vii) The pressure will be increased up to the test pressure with 1 bar intervals and the test
takes 2 hours, in that period the pressure shall be maintained, in that period the piping
system shall withstand the test pressure specified without showing any evidence of leakage or
other defects, any reduction of test pressures as indicated by pressure gauges shall be
deemed to indicate the presence of a leak unless such reduction can be readily attributed to
some other cause.

viii) In case of unsatisfactory test, the place of leakage is repaired or replaced and the test is
repeated.

ix) Upon satisfactory completion of the testing process the Engineer shall sign the Test
Certification provided by the Contractor, copies of Test Certification shall be given to the
engineer, employer and relevant Authorities.
x) After successful testing of pipe work, start fixing the equipment, sprinklers, cabinets etc.
and do the final touch up of painting.

Installation of Fire alarm System:

1. Prior to proceeding to the installation of FAS, all required materials collected at the
worksite shall be observed, and inspected appropriately, and make sure that the
materials/devices are as per the approved material submittal.

2. The required amount of cable should be transferred from the Stores to the Site access
point by pick-up

3. All the cables should be clipped onto the surface or to the particular floor with a
wheelbarrow as required in the workplace.

4. The correct size and type of cable should be identified and cut to the required length only.

5. Proper identifications to be provided for loop in / loop out of Fire Alarm cables.

6. The junction boxes for and back boxes FACP/FAS installation to the outstations such as
smoke detectors (SD), Manual Call Points (MCPs), and modules should be installed as per the
approved shop drawings.

7. Adequate and additional cable lengths are to be provided during cabling for the detectors,
which are coming in false ceiling.

8. All the cables are to be terminated in the outstations with a proper screwdriver and as per
the

Identifications provided in the cables. No joints are allowed in between two outstations.

9. All the Fire Alarm Control Panels such as Main Control Panels, Mimic Panels, and Repeater
Panels should be installed as per the approved shop drawing.

10. All Smoke Detectors (SDs) to have a cover on it after installation and before handing over
of the area, to evade any physical damages/accumulation of dust within the Smoke Detectors
