Writing paper: 2 written composition questions in 90 minutes

Writing task types:

• Task 1: email or a letter

• Task 2: an article, a report, a blog post, a review, an essay or a narrative

Reading paper: 3 reading comprehension tasks in 60 minutes

Reading task types:

• MM_Multiple matching
• MC_Multiple choice
• SC_Sentence completion (for main ideas or specific information)
• SI_Sentence insertion
• SA_Short answer

Listening paper: 3 listening comprehension tasks (30-40 minutes approx.)

Listening task types:

• MM_Multiple matching
• MC_Multiple choice
• SC_Sentence completion (for main ideas or specific information)
• SA_Short answer

Speaking exam: 9-12 minutes per pair

• Part 1: General Questions

o Timing: 2-3 min total
• Part 2 Task type: Topic question with a short paragraph of input on a given topic
o Task focus:
▪ Assess candidates’ ability to produce extended speech about a given topic.
o Timing: 4-5 min total
• Part 3 Task type: Informal discussion (interaction)
o Task focus:
▪ Assess candidates’ ability to interact with each other on a given topic.
▪ Assess candidates’ ability to engage in an informal spontaneous discussion.
o Timing: 3-4 minutes total
