1. Future wish: ( Ao ước ở tương lai)

Adverbs: tomorrow, next, someday, in the future,…
S + WISH + S + would / could + V Ex: I wish I would be a doctor in the future.
IF ONLY If only I would take a trip with you next Sunday.

2. Present wish (Ao ước ở hiện tại)

Adverbs: now, today, at the moment, …
S + WISH + S + (be)  were Ex: I am poor now.  I wish I were rich.
IF ONLY (V)  V_ed / V2 We have to go to class today.
( not, V)  didn’t + V  We wish we didn’t have to go to class today.

3. Past wish ( Ao ước ở quá khứ)

Adverbs: yesterday, last, ago , …
S + WISH + S + had + V_ed / V3 Ex: He failed his exam last year.
IF ONLY could + have + V_ed / V3  He wishes he hadn’t failed his exam last year.
She couldn’t be there.  She wishes she could have been there.
