pyydystetyksi jonkun arvokkaan henkilön, lausui hän tälle
juhlallisesti:
"Ja sitäpaitsi minulla onkin kirje teille." Kirjeen oli kyhännyt Kalgan
sulttaani hunajanmakealla kynällä.
Kesken kaiken hän kohtasi Olaj begin tutkivan katseen, joka yhä
tähysteli häntä, ja hän punehtui korviaan myöten. Hän istui
vastenmielisine tunteineen kuin neuloilla; lisätkäämme tähän tunteja
kestänyt kuulustelu ja salin tukahduttava ilma. Häntä pyörrytti; hän
aikoikin jo luovuttaa puheenjohtajan toimen Porossnokille, mutta
silloin kuului ulkoa kauhunhuuto, joka katuja vyöryen läheni
