SCARIFYING

The scarifier is attached to break up

SPREADING

The traveling speed of the grader is


most suitable in the 2nd to 3rd speed
range, with the blade sliding as in the
spreading operation.

In ditching operation the blade should


be positioned in such a manner that
dug soil is inside the rear wheels.

DAMPER
The damper lightens the shock from the
engine and the wheels so that abnormal power
is not placed or any part of the power train.
TANDEM DRIVE
Power from the final drive is transmitted to
the front and back rear wheels by chain.
FUNCTION OF HYDROSHIFT
TRANSMISSION
In hydro shift transmission we use planetary
type transmission and it is a combination of
planetary gear system and disc clutch.
FINAL DRIVE
Final drive is located between the
transmission and the tandem equipment. At
the final drive the revolution speed is reduced
and the torque is increased.
Power transmitted from the engine to the
damper and is transmitted to the right angles
by meshing of the bevel pinion and the bevel
gears and transmitted to the sprocket.
STEERING SYSTEM
There are two types of steering system. One is
the Mechanical type and the other is the
Hydraulic type
BRAKE SYSTEM
• The brake system is an oil type brake which
is assisted by compressed air and divided
into two systems for the front wheels and
the rear wheels. The pressing force applied
to the pedal is converted to the oil pressure
using compressed air and transmit it to the
wheel brake.
Structure and function
Necessary function:
• The major functions of a motor grader are to
level road surfaces and dig ditches of fixed
shape. To level surface accurately and
efficiently, the traveling equipment and
work equipment need to be perform
following functions:
• (1) Be able to travel constantly at the speed
which is proper for work.
• (2) Be able to travel straight at blade
working.
• (3) Small up-and-down motion of blade
while working on the bumpy (rough,
uneven) road.
• (4) Blade is able to be held at any position
according to the need of various kind of
work.
• (5) Blade is able to be controlled by inches.
• (6) Operator can watch the blade during
operation.
Capacity
• Generally capacity of motor grader is
expressed by the length of blade, and
classified to small size, medium size and
large size. And the length of blade depends
on wheel base, engine power and body
weight.
