COURSE OBJECTIVES:

 To understand the concept and basic mechanics of metal cutting, working of standard machine
tools such as lathe, shaping and allied machines, milling, drilling and allied machines, grinding
and allied machines and broaching.
 To understand the basic concepts of non-traditional machining processes.
 To impart basic knowledge and understanding about the primary manufacturing processes such
as casting, joining, forming and powder metallurgy and their relevance in current manufacturing
industry.
 To introduce processing methods of plastics, polymers, other synthetics and composites briefly.

COURSE CONTENTS:

Advanced Intelligence Automation, PLC.

Motions in Machining: Turning, Boring, Thread cutting, Shaping, Planning, Slot Cutting.

Different methods of plastic molding, powder metallurgy, production of metallic powders, Sintering and
Hot Pressing, Applications, Lathe machine and accessories types of lathes, drilling and other hole making
machines, shapers and planners milling.

Gears and threads: manufacturing and related machines.

Finishing operation: Grinding, honing, lapping, super-finishing etc.
