This learning guide is developed to provide you the necessary information regarding the

 Tools, techniques and materials
 Service adjustments

This guide will also assist you to attain the learning outcome stated in the cover page.
Specifically, upon completion of this Learning Guide, you will be able to –
 Select and analyse most appropriate service options.
 Select and prepare appropriate tools, techniques and materials
 Carryout Service adjustments according to workplace procedures and
manufacturer and component supplier specifications without causing damage to
components or systems
 Carry out post-service testing according to workplace procedures
Learning Instructions:
1. Read the specific objectives of this Learning Guide.
2. Follow the instructions described in number 3 to 20.
3. Read the information written in the “Information Sheets 1”. Try to understand what
are being discussed. Ask you teacher for assistance if you have hard time
understanding them.
4. Accomplish the “Self-check 1” in page 7.
5. Ask from your teacher the key to correction (key answers) or you can request your
teacher to correct your work. (You are to get the key answer only after you finished
answering the Self-check 1).
6. If you earned a satisfactory evaluation proceed to “Information Sheet 2”. However, if
your rating is unsatisfactory, see your teacher for further instructions or go back to
Learning Activity #1.
7. Submit your accomplished Self-check. This will form part of your training portfolio.

Operation Sheet 1 Fog light and fog light bulb replacement

Procedures:
1. Insert a medium-long screwdriver into the upper hole next to the fog light. Push the
screwdriver in to release the fog light mounting latch.

2. Pull the inboard end of the light assembly out of the bumper and remove the
assembly.

3. Remove the harness plug from the light assembly

4. Depress the retaining clip and remove the bulb access cover from the light
assembly.

5. Press the bulb retainer clip down and to the side to release the clip.

6. Remove the bulb and disconnect the female spade on the end of the bulb’s
connection wire from the male spade on the access cover.

Procedures:

1. Remove door cover or trim.


2. Use flashlight to see inside the door and access the door actuator connection
and fitting
3. In some cars, the window regulator or the outer door handle may also need to be
removed, which is often tricky.

4. Remove the existing door lock actuator.


5. Replace properly connect all the cables and levers after the new door lock
actuator and installed.

Operation Sheet 3 Replace a Car Audio System

Tools and equipment’s:


Stereo, Wire cutters, Tape, Screwdriver, Wire Strippers, Electrical tape, Wire strippers
Procedures:
1. Take out the old stereo. Unlink the negative cable from the battery.
2. Take off the front paneling of the dashboard.
 Use the screwdriver to remove the old stereo.
 Look at the wiring. If the wiring is individually linked, undo every wire by itself.
3. Place the connector in your wiring harness.
 It connects at the rear of the stereo.

4. Attach every wire if you are not using a harness
5. Link the positive wire to the connector located on the stereo.
 Do the same for the negative wire.
 If you have one wire from your speaker then, you need new speaker wiring. This
is very important.
6. Take the black wire and link it to the stereo. You can use a screw that is close to the
radio inside the dashboard. The wiring should be wrapped around metal.
7. Link the red ignition and 12 constant wiring to the stereo. Use the stereo manual to
make sure you are putting these in the correct location.
8. Your connector should be housing all the wiring you need through a harness. You
could purchase it separately or use the one that comes with the stereo.

9. Put the stereo into the mounting bracket. If it didn’t come with one, use the one from
the other stereo system.
10. Link the harness connector up to the stereo in the back. You will only have one
single wire to attach from the previous system at this point. This wire is your antenna
wire. Attach it to the stereo. If there is a power antenna wire link it as well.
11. Place the stereo into the hole inside the dashboard. Do not secure it in yet. Test it
before you add any screws to it.
12. Reattach the negative cable back to the car battery.
13. Place the key in the ignition and crank your vehicles. Turn on the radio and listen to
the quality of sound. You need to verify that all the speakers are working and the
radio is functioning properly.
14. Secure the new stereo. Use the screws and a screwdriver to put the face onto the
radio and replace the dashboard cover.
