ABOUT THE INSTITUTE


Institute for Promotion of Mathematics is a unique Institute working since 1996 for school going
children. We, at the Institute realize and understand that the present education set-up does not give the
students enough opportunity to tackle mathematical problems outside the routine path of school
examinations. Hence the Mathematics Scholarship Examination syllabus comprises of thought
provoking and challenging topics, thus exposing some fascinating facers of mathematics. The syllabus
strives towards making the generally dreaded Math’s Fun and Easy. In the course of time students
learn to analyses problems fast and anticipate results soon. Fast calculations help the students to
perform well in school and in competitive entrance examination at various stages. The question papers
are set keeping in mind the competitive entrance examination at various stages. The question papers
are set keeping in mind the competitive exams that children face later. The exposure that children are
given is very helpful, while facing the competitive entrance exams, which in turn improve performance.
The Institute conducts the All-India Open Mathematics Scholarship Examination for Std.II, III,
IV, V, VI, VII, VIII and IX and awards Scholarship, Trophies/Mementoes to the top 251/150 students of
each standard to honor and inspire them.
In the past 25 years of conducting the Mathematics Scholarship Examination, the Institute has
awarded a whopping Rs.1,25,11100 to about 29,658 students and also have awarded a trip to Thailand
for the top six students and the principals of the top School of each section (IV to IX) on completion of
the Institute’s 10 years.

OBJECTIVES
1. To make the solving of mathematical problems a joyful activity and in general to sharpen a
child’s mathematical skills.
2. To test not the mechanical part of problem solving, but a child’s ability to understand the basic
concepts on various topics and their application.
3. To emphasize mental arithmetic which is essential for quick and clear thinking.
4. To encourage and prepare young students to appear for various Mathematics Competitive
Examination and to inculcate in them an ambition to succeed in such competitive examination
from an early age.
5. To honor and inspire the Meritorious students by awarding Scholarship, Prizes. Mementoes and
Certi cates.

WHY STUDY MATH’S?


Mathematics equips students with knowledge essential to many careers: Problem solving,
logical thinking and analytical skills and enhanced by the study of Mathematics.
Mathematics students are equipped with resourcefulness and creativity in analyzing huge
variety of situation. The ability to learn and adapt to new developments is also enhanced by the study of
mathematics.
Mathematical skills represent a way of thinking and are highly exible. They lead to exciting and
challenging careers which are extremely diverse in nature. Mathematicians and Statisticians are
among the graduates with the highest starting salaries and have the lowest unemployment rates.
Mathematics enhance a person’s ability to handle the more ambiguous and qualitative relationships
that dominate our day-to-day decision making.

What is Mathematics Scholarship Examination?


Mathematics Scholarship Examination is a Competitive Examination conducted by the Institute
for Promotion of Mathematics for various standards where the mathematical skills, mental ability,
calculation speed, critical analysis and accuracy of a child and application of short cut methods are
tested.

Who is eligible?
Any student studying in Std. II to IX of any recognized school with S.S.C, I.C.S.E, C.B.S.E and
I.B. or any other board pattern, is eligible to appear for the All-India Open Mathematics Scholarship
Examination.

A Student can appear for Mathematics Scholarship Examination for the class only in which
he/she is studying during the academic year.

Books and Syllabus


Prescribed Text Books for the Mathematics Scholarship Examination, Past Question Papers
and Solved Questions Papers have been published by the Institute for all classes (II and IX). The books
can be ordered from our website and also available at the Institute’s o ce. The prescribed syllabus for
all the classes will be covering the regular school syllabus but will be of an advanced level. For sample

EXAMINATION PATTERN AND RULES


The Institute will conduct the All-India Open Mathematics Scholarship Examination in the
following structure:
1. Final Examination (Mode of Examination: Online)
All candidates who have applied for the All-India Open Mathematics Scholarship Examination
will compulsory have to appear for the Final Examination. Based on the Performance at the Final
Examination the top 400/500 students will qualify for the Mega Final. Those remaining absent for the
Final Examination will not be allowed to appear for the Mega-Final.
Note: Number of Questions : 40
Maximum Marks : 100
Duration of Exam : 60 minutes
No Negative Marking.
2. Mega- Final (Mode of Examination: Online)
Standard 2 to Standard 6 top 500 students of each class from Final Examination and Standard 7
to Standard 9 top 400 students of each class from Final Examination are eligible to appear for Mega
Final Exam.
Note: Number of Questions : 15
Maximum Marks : 30
Duration of Exam : 45 minutes
Negative Marking for wrong answer : 0.5
Passing Marks
Students scoring 30% and above at the Mathematics Scholarship Examination will be declared
successful candidates. Scholarship will be awarded to students who score a minimum of 60 % marks
or above as per the Merit-List of the rst 251/150 students as declared in the prizes.
Results, Certi cates, Prizes
The Mark Sheets, Certi cates will be uploaded on IPM Website www.ipmmathscholarship.com.
Students are requested to download / print them for their records.
Prizes
The scholarship awards/prizes will be transferred to the student’s bank account. (Details of the
bank account to be submitted on our website) Only for Scholarship Prize Winners
Rechecking of Marks
A Fee of Rs.100 to be transferred by Gpay / Paytm on 8208914657 and details to be WhatsApp
on the same number. (Seat number and payment details) The application of rechecking should be
made within 7 days after the declaration of the results.
Date of Final Examination and Mega Final Examination
The Final Scholarship Exam will be held on the 17th April 2022.
Mega Final will be conducted in June or July. No request from any parent/ student will be entertained for
the change of date of the Examination.

EXAMINATION REGISTRATION AND FEE


Application form to be lled and submitted along with fee of Rs.400 on our website. Fees once
paid will not be refunded (under any circumstances)

Last Date of submission of Application Forms

Application Forms duly lled in must be submitted by 15th March. Incomplete forms will be
rejected. Fees once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances.

Hall Ticket and Seat Number

The Hall Ticket bearing the Seat Number and Timing of the Exam will be uploaded on our
website www.ipmmathscholarship.com, 15 days prior to the date of the examination, students have to
print the hall-ticket from the website. In case the Hall-Ticket is not received by the student he/she must
contact the Institute’s o ce immediately. Examination center ONLINE.

SCHOLARSHIPS & OTHER PRIZES


A total amount Rs.10,00,000/- (Ten Lakh) will be awarded as scholarship to the students and Schools
as follows.

1. Top 251 students of Standard II to VI each and 150 students of Standard VII to IX each will be
awarded one-time cash scholarship as given below in the chart.

2. Trophies / mementoes will be awarded to Rank 1 to Rank 5 holders in Merit List of each class.
Medals will be awarded to Rank 6 to Rank 10 holders in Merit List of each class.

3. Certi cate of Merit will be awarded to the First 251/150 Rank holders of class 2 to 6 (each) and
class 7 to 9 (each) respectively.

4. Certi cates of Distinction will be awarded to all students who have quali ed and appeared for
the Mega Final Exam.

5. Certi cates of Appreciation will be awarded to all students scoring 30% marks and above at
the Final Exam.

6. Certi cate of Participation will be awarded to all students present for the Final Exam.

7. Best School Awards for the top two Schools


Cash Prizes of Rs.5000/- and Rs.2500/- will be awarded to the top two schools each with the
maximum number of students in the Merit List of each Std (i.e. II to IX). In case of a tie, it would
be resolved by considering the total prize money won. To claim the prize a group photograph of
the students with the Principal and Teachers must be submitted to IPM. In case any school does
not accept the prize, it would be awarded to the next best school.
