ABET Accreditation in Architecture Engineering

Department
May 2022

Architectural Engineering Department plan for ABET Accreditation in Spring 2022.

1. Advanced Building Technology Course will apply ABET Accreditation on its syllabus and course file. Student Outcome 1 (SO1) will
be the main focus of this course. A full description of how ABET Accreditation was applied will be provided at the end of this
semester. The work plan can be discussed with the ABET committee at ENG College.
2. Design 4th will apply SO2
3. Full evaluation of Architecture department classes with regard to SO1-7 is in the table below
Rubric for Performance Indicators of Student Outcome (2):

An ability to apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of public health, safety, and welfare, as well as
global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors
Rubric for Performance Indicators of Student Outcome (3):

An ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences

Rubric for Performance Indicators of Student Outcome (4):

An ability to recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in engineering situations and make informed judgments, which must consider
the impact of engineering solutions in global, economic, environmental, and societal contexts
Rubric for Performance Indicators of Student Outcome (5):

An ability to function effectively on a team whose members together provide leadership, create a collaborative and inclusive environment, establish
goals, plan tasks, and meet objectives
Rubric for Performance Indicators of Student Outcome (6):

An ability to develop and conduct appropriate experimentation, analyze and interpret data, and use engineering judgment to draw conclusions
Rubric for Performance Indicators of Student Outcome (7):

An ability to acquire and apply new knowledge as needed, using appropriate learning strategies

We are in the process of ABET accreditation, and one of the tasks that need to be accomplished is summative data collection of classes.
This term we focus on SO1 and SO2. As a performance indicator, Seven Rubrics (attached) have been designed and the following list
provides a guideline for you to follow this procedure.

Staff needs to collect data based on these rubrics (for each student) and provide it at the end of the semester along with course file
reports. Next semester, ABET Committee will evaluate this data.

Architecture Design I – Space Design – (SO1)

Building Technology: Materials and Methods – (SO1)
Urban Planning– (SO2)
Sustainability – (SO2)
Architecture Design – Urban Design – (SO1 and SO2)
Landscape Design – (SO1 and SO2)
