SUBJECT: Possible CAN Encoder Replacement Requirement when servicing NEW
the Tilt Sensor or Multifunction Control Handle

Please distribute this bulletin to all Unicarriers technicians.


Due to a recent update in Part numbers 58595-GP20A (Tilt Sensor) and 18012-GP00A (Multifunction Handle), a
new CAN Encoder may be required when replacing either part.
This bulletin describes recommended service instructions for replacing the CAN Encoder, Tilt Sensor and
Multifunction Control Handle on the Stand Up 3-Wheel Electric model 1S1 (SCX).

A B Preparation
1. Disconnect the battery from the truck. Refer to Section GI-9
through GI-11 in the Service Manual for battery handling and
electrical precautions.
2. Using a Phillips Screwdriver, remove the seven Screws (A)
securing the Top Panel (B). Remove the Top Panel.

Installation
1. Locate the CAN Encoder (C) positioned just in front of the
Control Joystick (D).

If a Sub-Harness (E) is present, remove the Sub-Harness.

2. Using the following table, determine the appropriate part to


be replaced, CAN Encoder condition and action to be taken.
Perform the appropriate action once determined.

Verify the CAN Encoder Part Number. (Zapi part

3. After the appropriate action is complete, plug Truck Harness

4. Return the Top Panel (B) to its proper location and secure it
using the seven previously removed Screws (A). Tighten the
Screws securely.

5. Reconnect the battery to the truck. Refer to Section GI-9


through GI-11 in the Service Manual for battery handling and
electrical precautions.
6. Calibration is required for replacements of any of these parts.
Refer to 1S1 Tilt Calibration Service Bulletin SB2019-005 for
proper calibration procedures.
7. Test the Lift Truck for proper operation before returning it to
service.
