I discovered my strength and passion in flexible manufacturing cells (FMC) during my bachelor's

degree in Mechanical Engineering. I have proposed safety improvements for an existing FMC by
developing a safety checklist and upgrading the system with hardware (Sensor, interlock) and user-
friendly software (Petri Net). As part of my efforts, I have been rewarded 1st class honor degree
from Sheffield Hallam University, UK. (Reason for success: good observation, research skills, and
coordination skills with industry/research center/ supervisors).

After my BEng graduation, I have been offered Ph.D. and a scholarship from a pipe clamp company.
However, I decided to travel back to Malaysia and start my career life. Unfortunately, I was not able
to get my desired job as a manufacturing engineer at a local car manufacturing company where I can
leverage my strength and passion. Then, I choose to develop myself in Oil and Gas industries,
particularly in plant equipment manufacturing.

Along my career pathway in these exciting 25 years, I have gained a lot of experience from great
leaders and challenging environments. During my first 4 to 5 years of experience at KNM Steel, I
have provided my analysis skill for optimum product design, competitive costing, and profitable
project support - from material procurement, manufacturing, and quality control. In 2002, I have
given a senior engineer task to grow 4 younger engineers through technical and on-job training to
cope with increasing workloads. Throughout my career at KNM Steel, My team and I managed to
gain more than 150 million projects accumulatively. (Reason for success: Self-learning, leadership
and coaching, enhanced teammate, accountability, continuous improvement, new methodology ).

In 2003, I decided to change my career pathway after I realized there is plenty of opportunity in
engineering and technical education in line with vision 2020. After a few years of working as a senior
lecturer, I have been promoted to HOD of Engineering. Our team has improved the school student
number from 120 to 350 students through enhanced facilities, industrial-based syllabi, accredited
programs, and a new market niche program - aircraft maintenance! (Reason for success: Leadership
and coaching, enhanced teammate, accountability, continuous improvement, new methodology,
creativity, diplomatic skills, industrial collaboration).

In 2009, I have invited by EDS Asia to join as a product manager cum business partner - education.
From 2009 to 2011, Our team succeeded in making Intergraph plant design and engineering
solutions cover 90% of the SEA market share. In addition, I have initiated a training division to
enhance user capability in using our solution for process equipment design, costing, manufacturing,
and quality control. In 2012, I have appointed as CE of Innovative Engineering College (IEDC), a
subsidiary of EDS Asia. (Reason for success: Continous improvement through learning, closing
competency gaps to the required standard).

From 2012 to 2019, I continued to serve Intergraph as a channel and technical consultant. I have
trained more than 80 oil & gas companies to enforce their engineer's strength in the design, costing,
and manufacturing of process equipment. In addition, I also provide technical training and
evaluation to in-house technical teams in pre-sale and post-sale services within SEA.
