The Office of Energy and Climate Change is currently seeking to appoint 2 Project
Officers to join the Sustainable Finance Team and 1 Project Officer to join our
Sustainable Government Team.

Employment Type: 3 X Temporary full-time roles until 30th June 2026, with the
possibility to ongoing

Work Location: Parramatta/Sydney, hybrid working options available

Classification / Grade / Band: Environment Officer Class 8

Hours Per Week: 35, flexible working options available

Remuneration: Salary relative to experience, and ranges from $103,961 to


$117,290 per annum plus Superannuation and Leave Loading

Additional Benefits: Salary Packaging and Fitness Passport available

About the Teams

The NSW Office of Energy and Climate Change (OECC) and NSW Treasury are
collaborating to deliver a number of foundational sustainable finance-related projects
and net zero projects. The Sustainable Finance (SF) program is driven collaboratively
by the Sustainable Government Team and Strategic Balance Sheet Management
Division within Treasury.

The Sustainable Government Team works closely with Government Agencies in


enabling them to meet Government Resource Efficiency Policy (GREP) outcomes and
develop net zero pathways and broader sustainability strategies.

Sustainable Finance Program (2 roles)

The three current strategic Sustainable Finance Program initiatives are:

Scope and undertake a climate vulnerability assessment of the NSW State


governments finances:

Scope and establish the NSW Government Sustainable Finance Centre

Identify the barriers and mitigation measures to enable investment in net zero
and nature-positive industries and activities.

In this role, you will support the Sustainable Finance Team Senior Project Officer:

In contributing to the delivery of several workstreams associated with the 3


projects above

In supporting the Head of the Sustainable Finance Programs with other


priorities and initiatives as they arise

By liaising with key stakeholders within Treasury and OECC

Key responsibilities include:

Contributing to scoping, planning, developing and implementing projects


consistent with the Sustainable Finance program’s role and priorities

Identifying relevant stakeholders, organising meetings, recording and


organising key information, coordinating with focus group experts, conducting
desktop research, providing input into relevant documents and other relevant
work as needed.

Managing project budget spending and monthly reporting requirements by


OECC

Sustainable Government Program (1 role)

You will work closely with the Senior Project Officer to improve stakeholder
relationships internally and externally. You will also work on projects as part of a
broader team committed to supporting Agencies in their net zero readiness and
climate change preparedness.

In this role, you will support the Senior Project Officer:

Developing net zero tools and guidance and providing stakeholder support to
enable government agencies to achieve net zero

In managing the Sustainability and Resilience Community of Practice (S&R CoP)


and supporting the Government Resource Efficiency Policy (GREP) webinar

In stakeholder management strategy and policy stewardship

In organising and preparing the inaugural government agency conference in


March 2024. This is intended to be an annual event

Key responsibilities include:

Implementing the net zero tools and updating where required

Developing and implementing stakeholder engagement plan

Planning and organising the inaugural Government Agency Conference

Supporting projects consistent with the Net Zero program’s role and priorities

Providing excellent management of the S&R CoP, including secretariat and


governance support

Participating in government agency working groups on net zero and


sustainability strategies

About you

To be successful in these roles you will have demonstrated experience in one or more
of the following areas:

Efficient project management skills: coordination, procurement, reporting, etc.

Ability to capture and structure information from meetings and workshops in a


comprehensive and clear manner

Coordination with multiple stakeholders, oversee the organisation of meetings

Excellent communication written and spoken

Ability to adapt to an evolving project environment

Tertiary education in one or more of these disciplines including engineering,


finance, economics, science

Understanding issues impacting program objectives and deliverables within a


high paced and evolving work program

Managing competing demands and priorities and escalating issues when

Dealing with diverse stakeholders and responding promptly to contentious or


time sensitive issues, considering their varying expectations/viewpoints and
interests to deliver collaborative outcomes

Desirable requirements

Experience in agile project design and delivery

Background or interest in climate risk, sustainability, finance, and economics

Cluster in April 2022 and consists of the Energy, Climate Change & Sustainability
(ECCS) and the Energy Corporation of NSW (EnergyCo).
