Kata Baranyai is a 16-year-old student who lives with her mother and mother's partner. She has an older sister who lives independently, and her parents are divorced. Kata sees her extended family regularly, meeting her grandparents weekly, aunt/uncle and cousins on weekends for gatherings, and more family during holidays. She believes living with more generations could be positive but also negative if the grandparents are noisy or underfoot. Her favorite holiday is Christmas when the whole family comes together at her grandparents' house for a traditional meal and gift exchange.

My name is Kata Baranyai. I’m 16 years old and I live in
Császártöltés. I have a dog and 2 cats. I attend Szilády Áron Secondary Grammar School. I’m in school year 10. I have a sister. Her name is Anna Baranyai. She is 23 years old and she lives in Győr with her boyfriend. My parents got divorced. I live with my mum and my mum’s partner. She is 46 years old and she works in Kecel as a teacher. My mum’s partner is 45 years old and he works in Soltvadkert as a winery. I meet with my grandparents every week. I meet my uncle and my aunt every weekend because we are likely to have garden parties and on these occasions I also meet with my little cousins. I meet with my other cousins every holiday for example at Christmas, Easter, et cetera. In my opinion it could be positive if we live with more generations, for example with our grandparents, because we can turn the advantages on our side. But it could be negative when, for example the grandparents are noisy and also they could be under our feet sometimes. My favourite holiday is Christmas, because then the entire family comes together to celebrate the birth of Jesus. We hold a family dinner at my grandparents’ house each year. Conventionally we eat fish soup and mohnpielen. We give presents to each other.
