Sample Problems for P.I.

1. A 0.68 kg of steam has a final temperature temperature of 240°C, what is the initial temperatur, if the water
absorbed absorbed 520 kJ of heat?

2. Suppose at 200bar and 500K the steam has a specific volume of 5.8 ft3/kg and a specific enthalpy of 2750
kJ/kg as heat absorbed. Determine internal energy per pound mass of steam.

3. Turbine's inlet stream was entered by a steam with an enthalpy of 3600 kJ/kg and a velocity of 100800
in/min having a height of 0.02 km, and leaves with an enthalpy of 2775 kJ/kg with a velocity of 3360 in/s,
having a heat loss as it leaves the turbine at 2.0kJ/s. If the rate of steam flow through turbine is 25 kg/min,
calculate the Work done (kW).
