1100 Series Injector Programming

Injector Program
The injector program comprises a series of numbered lines, each of which defines an
operation that the injector carries out sequentially. When you activate an injector
program, it replaces the standard injection cycle.

By default the number of steps an injector program can include is limited. Use the CP
variable ExtInjProg to allow for more steps in the injector program. For LC/MSD
analyses in which the injector program lasts more than 10 min, click here.

Select the Change button to confirm changes to the currently-selected line.

Select the Insert button to insert the contents of the edit line above the currently-
selected line.
Select the Append button to add the contents of the edit line to the end of the table.
Select the Cut button to delete the currently-selected line and place it on the clipboard.
Select the Copy button to copy the currently selected line to the clipboard.
Select the Paste button to paste the line on the clipboard at the current position.

You can select the following functions for entry into the injector program:

Draw
Enables the injector to draw from a specified Source.

Parameter Limits
Amount Def., the default amount specified in the Setup Injector dialog box
Max., the maximum amount defined by the syringe and capillary
Source Sample specific VialSeatAirSample+
Speed Def., the default speed specified in the Setup Injector dialog box
Max., the maximum draw speed
Offset -2.5 to +35 mm below or above the normal draw position
Def., the default draw position specified in the Setup Injector dialog box
Eject
Moves to a specified position and ejects a specified amount from the needle.

Parameter Limits
Amount Def., the default amount specified in the Setup Injector dialog box
Max., the maximum amount
Destination Sample specific VialSeatSample+
Speed Def., the default speed specified in the Setup Injector dialog box
Max., the maximum draw speed
Offset -2.5 to +35 mm below or above the normal draw position
Def., the default draw position specified in the Setup Injector dialog box
Mix
Mixes the drawn volume in the air or seat by moving the injector piston back and forth.

Parameter Limits
Amount Def., the default amount specified in the Setup Injector dialog box
Max., the maximum amount
Source SeatAir
Speed Def., the default speed specified in the Setup Injector dialog box
Max., the maximum draw speed
Repeat specify the number of repeat cycles
Inject
Completes the injection by moving the needle to the seat, turning the valve to
mainpass, and generating a start pulse.

Wait
Autosampler waits for a specified time between 0 and 99999 minutes. A time of 0 is
equivalent to Off. Note that the Wait time is accurately controlled.

Valve

Parameter Action
Mainpass Turns the valve to the mainpass position
Main+StartTurns the valve to the mainpass position and generates a start pulse.
Bypass Turns the valve to the bypass position.
Main In Turns the valve to the mainpass position while the needle is at the Source
for a Time between 1 and 99 seconds. The source can be a Sample, a Vial,
Seat or Sample+.
Needle
Moves the injector needle as specified.

Parameter Limits
Up Moves the needle to its upper position.
Down Into Moves the needle into a source. The source can be a Sample, a Vial or
Sample+. An Offset of -2.5 to +35 mm below or above the normal draw
position can also be specified.

Wash Washes the needle in a wash vial for which you can specify a vial number
or select DEF to use the vial specified in the Setup Injector dialog
box.Specify up to 5 Repeat cycles.
Remote
Specifies the remote pulses generated by the autosampler and transmitted on the
remote bus.

Parameter Action
Ready Sets the Ready state
Not Ready Sets the Not Ready state
StartPulse Sends a Start pulse
StopPulse Sends a Stop pulse
PreparePulse Sends a Prepare pulse to the detector
StartRequest Sends a Start Request pulse

Wait For
Waits for changes in the remote line. You can specify a time-out range between 0 and
99999 minutes.

Parameter Action
Ready Waits for a Ready state
Start Waits for a Start pulse
StartRequest Waits for a Start Request pulse
Stop Waits for a Stop pulse

Repeat
Repeats the lines of the injector program between the Repeat and End Repeat
functions the specified number of times. Note that no nested repeat statements are
allowed.

End Repeat
Marks the end of the injector program lines to be repeated.

Comment
Enables you to type a free text comment into the injector program.

Contact
The Contact command is available only if external contacts are configured. It enables
you to set the state of the external contacts.

Output
The Output is available only if external contacts are configured and used for binary
output. It enables a specified Number to be output on the BCD connector in binary
format.

Before the injector program is accepted, the syntax is checked for errors. The syntax
must be correct for the injector program to be accepted.

Move vial
Gets a vial at the FROM position, and places it at the TO position.

Parameter Explanation Limits

FROM The position, where the vial will be used from. 1 - vial
positions, the ALS supports
TO The position, where the vial will be moved to. 1.-.vial
positions, the ALS supports

The following picture is a screen capture of a basic injector program which involves a
default volume(volume specified under injection volume-20ul) draw from the sample
and a default volume(volume specified under injection volume-20ul) draw from another
vial( #1). This total volume of 40ul is then being mixed in the needle seat capillary 6X.
One cycle of mixing entails drawing the syringe back a total of 40ul and mixing this
volume by moving the syringe forward and back, mixing the 40ul. The final step of the
injector program is to inject the sample onto the column. No command for inject is
required.
