CHAPTER 3

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

Research Method Used

Research design using mixed methods have a number of benefits for

examining complicated phenomena, such as the perceptions of first-time

voters during the 2022 presidential elections. Researchers can better

comprehend the issue under study and find strategies to enhance the voting

process by combining data from several sources.

By collecting and analyzing both quantitative and qualitative data in the

same study, researchers can draw more meaningful conclusions about the

experience of first-time voters. Quantitative data can provide statistical

information about voter turnout and demographics, while qualitative data can

provide insights into the motivations and experiences of first-time voters.

Population and Sampling Technique

The Respondents of this study were the First Time Voters Residents of

Taguig City. We're going to use the random sampling technique because we'll

be collecting data from respondents using both qualitative and quantitative

methods. Since we don't have a target demographic for the surveys, we use

Time Frame.

Respondents of the Study

The respondents of this research study are the first-time voters of

Taguig City in the 2022 national election who participated in the last election

in the Philippines. The researchers gathered information based on the

respondents in terms of Age, Year Level, and the experiences of first-time

voters through the Safety, Orderliness, Peaceful and Accessibility.

Instrumentation

The researchers used a self-made questionnaire for online surveys to

gather the needed data for the First-Time Voters. The researchers will

distribute the survey questionnaire by sending the google link via Messenger

or Facebook. Thus, respondents will be expected in the systematic way of

answering the provided questionnaires.

The selected respondents will patently put a check under strongly

disagree, disagree, neutral, agree or strongly agree right to the given

questions. The tool for profile was made by researchers: It was determined to

be their age, year level and civil status. The questionnaires consist of items

that determine the Experience of the First Time Voters in Taguig City During

the 2022 National Elections particularly in terms of safety, orderliness,

peacefulness and the accessibility. In the questionnaire, a 5-point Likert scale

was used to determine if the respondent will agree or disagree in the

statement provided.

A printed copy of survey questionnaire is located at Appendix “C”.

Validation of Instrument

A thorough validation procedure was used to guarantee the validity and

efficacy of the survey instrument. Experts in the field approved the

questionnaire and offered insightful feedback. Distinguished academics of

public management, legal specialists, and professors with shown research

experience comprise the panel of validators.

A scanned copy of validation form is found at Appendix “B”.

Data Collection and Management

The process of collecting data from the participants entailed utilizing an

online survey questionnaire that included study-related questions. In addition,

the Data Privacy Act of 2012 was closely followed during the data gathering

procedure to guarantee the privacy and security of the respondents' personal

data. Ensuring the confidentiality and rights of all participants during the data

collection process necessitated strict adherence to data privacy standards

Statistical Treatment of Data

The data to be gathered in this study will be subjected to the following

statistical treatment:

1. Percentage Distribution

The Demographic Profile of the respondents will be determined by

using the formula of percentage. The percentage ranking of each level will be

determined on the number from 1 to 4. The frequency of each response will

be determined on the number of the respondents who will check the particular

item.

Where:

f = frequency
p = percentage
N = total number of the respondents

2. Mean Score

The mean of responses from the respondents will be determined with this

formula:

Where: = Mean

= Total Score

= The number of the respondent

3. ANOVA Test

The method used to determine what additional challenges did

respondents experience when they were at their precincts in terms of:

Inadequate Facilities, Long waiting Times, and Crowded Precincts the formula

use is ANOVA;
