Youth Dance-Off Competition

Rules and Procedures

A panel of four (4) judges consisting of:- Dance Instructors, Professional Dancers and or Dancers with competition
experience shall be used. All judges agree to judge in an Impartial Manner. Any conflict of interest shall be reported
to and resolved by the contest coordinator.

DANCE TEAM DIVISION

 Each team shall have a maximum of five (5) minutes, to entrance and execute their routine.
 No alteration of lights would be allowed.
 Whiles flirtatious moves are acceptable, over sexual, vulgar or crude dance positions are considered
inappropriate.
 Props are allowed. They are defined as small handled or worn objects that can be appropriately revealed,
utilized and retained e.g. (Tear-away skirts, guns and holster, handheld flowers, spurs, parasols, canes,
chairs etc.) In other words, start with an empty floor, leave with an empty floor.
 Groups/team will be judged based on originality, choreography, execution and entertainment value.
 Failure to report on time, to compete. (Penalty:10-25 points will/may be deducted from final scores)

DISQUALIFICATION

Any team that does not adhere to the term of the Rules and Procedures will be subject to disqualification from the
competition and will automatically forfeit any rights to any prizes or awards presented by the competition.

A competitor may be disqualified for any of the following reasons:- Conduct unbecoming of a lady or gentleman.

INJURY

In the event that an injury causes the team’s routine to be interrupted, the team must either continue the routine or
withdraw from the competition.

Competition officials’ reserve the rights to stop the routine if an injury occurs. The officials will determine if the
team will be allowed to perform at a later time. If decided by officials, the team will perform the routine again in its
entirety, but will be evaluated ONLY from the point where the interruption occurred.

ELIGIBILITY

Participants can participate in a maximum of two dances (only after conveying with the competition officials,
officials agreeing to this)

Contestants must have only one song on CD and present it to the Stage Manager long before his/her performance.

Appropriate costumes should be worn for dance performance.


TIMING

Duration of dance should be limited to a maximum of five (5) minutes.

Only two (1) minute is allowed for stage preparation (includes general introduction) before performance, and only one
(1) minute allowed after performance to clear the stage. Timing are one of the scoring points, ten (10) points will be
deducted from final score for each minute exceeding the time limits.

BACKSTAGE RULES

Teams should be presented at least one (1) hour prior to its assigned time, regardless of schedule running on time or
not.

Contestant must check in with the stage manager/ assistants upon arrival, if your team does not show themselves at
least 30 minutes before show time the will /may have to forfeit their chance to participate.

We will not come to dressing rooms to look for individuals. “No Show” will forfeit their chance to perform.

Safety Code: No glass bangles, grains or any other small breakable objects will be allowed on stage/backstage or dress
rooms. This safety code will be strictly enforced.
All dancers must be fully prepared and in their proper category at the time of Grand Entry.

FINALITY OF DECISIONS

By participating in this competition, each team agrees that, the decisions by the judges will be final and will not be
subject for review. Each team acknowledges the necessity for the judges to make prompt and fair decisions in this
competition and each team therefore expressly waives any legal, equitable, administrative or procedural review of such
decisions.

ALL TABULATIONS ARE FINAL!
