    Microbes play an important role in human welfare in three key areas: 1) They are used to produce important household and industrial products like bread, cheese, alcoholic beverages, antibiotics, organic acids, enzymes, and bioactive molecules. 2) They aid in biogas production by converting cellulosic waste material into methane, carbon dioxide, and hydrogen through methanogens. 3) They serve as biocontrol agents and biofertilizers to control pests and pathogens and enrich soil nutrients symbiotically or as free-living organisms.
