2. Justification of speeches

You need to justify each speech in terms of extending and developing your skills as
an actor. All three speeches need to done separately. 3 separate paragraphs each
250 words. A total of 750 on this section.

My first monologue is Dan’s Monolouge from experience.

One thing I feel that this monologue would help me develop my acting skills is with
working with pauses. This monologue is an emotional one due to the emotional
journey that the character goes on and is this enhanced with multiple beats during
the end of the monologue. In choosing this monolgue I fought about how I could
work with this silence to convey the emotions of the character. With time I could give
these emotional pauses the effect that is needed to give off a truly emotional
perfromance. Another thing that this monologue would allow me to develop my skills
actor is with pacing. In this monologue there is a lot of punctuation such as full stops
and commas therefore resulting in a lot of pausing. If I were to do this monologue I
would have to make sure this punctuation isn’t effecting the flow of the monogue and
the emotional parts. A final that I would work on in this monologue is my voice skills.
When doing this monologue I would experiment with volume and with tone. Working
with the volume of my voice would show the characters struggle in voicing the story
of the fire. I would also have to make sure I'm still articulating when using a lower
volume. Also with tone I would work to perfect the fearful tone that I want to use
throughout the monologue. Also testing what other tones I can use to develop my
skills

My second monologue is Body’s monologue from the body by Nick Darke. One of
the thing that I can do to to develop my acting skills is with voice especially
resonance. I would experiment changing my resonance during the rehearsal process
to decide which resonances I could use and when I could use them. Whether that be
throat resonance or chest and also whether I keep the same resonance throughout
the whole monologue or change it at different points

3. Synopsis of the play

Please write a synopsis of the play which the speech you are performing is from. The
other two are not part of this. 250 words on this.

The play stars when a young accountant George Spelvin goes to a see a play but
when he walks in he is mistaken for an actor he is then forced to perform. The stage
manager walks in and expects him to perfrom also expect him to know the member
that was involved in the car crash that he needs to go on for. And then one of the
actress comes in telling him about his que and when he asks what play it is that he’s
doing hes confused. And then another actress tells him about the play and the play
and then one of the actors questions who is he but when he says he knows the
stage manager all is good. A voice then tells the audience about the replacment of
actors and then the show begins. When he goes on he isnt sure what to do when
responding to the other actors and actresses messing up what hes saying and his
queues. Eventually he is left on the stage and tries to make up something, even
starting to quote from hamlet even quoting the american national anthem and ends
up confessing to the audience that he is not an actor. And then someone else comes

on stage and he ends up confessing what his character has done wrong to the
executioner and is killed ending the play. At the end of the play the other actors do
their regular curtain call but he doesn’t join them as he is dead. At the end he
eventually gets up after this and looks up at the audience and then exits the stage.

4. Emotional Journey
