Square roots (2nd roots)

The square root of a number

“A value that, when multiplied by itself, gives the number.”

(a number within “√” must not be negative number!!!)

Example : The square root of 16 is 4 ( 16  44  4 )

because 42= 42 x 4 = 16

( 4 is a square root of 16)

( Note that (−4) × (−4) = 16 too, so −4 is also a square root

of 16.)

The principal square root is the root that isn't negative!
