Standing Desk
”This was my first purchase from Maker Pipe, and it has proven to be extremely helpful for all
my builds. On the first one I used all but two connectors (the 180s), and this kit made it possible
to experience the system, and start creating upon new necessities arise. Highly recommended!”
- Javier (Review of Mixed Bundle)
Treadmill Stand
"Needed a laptop and fan stand for our treadmill. Maker Pipe made it easy to create a
custom stand with standard 3/4" conduit.” - CompassCustomCreations
Project Link
Printer Stand
“Wanted to share my first build: a stand for my laser and 3D printers. Still need to add lights,
filament holder, and probably something for tools but it's otherwise complete. Used 12 x 90
degree connectors, 3/4 EMT with white heat shrink. The verticals are 5 ft uncut pipes from
hardware store. The shelves are leftovers from Ikea side tables which are attached to the
pipes using one hole straps. Really excited and happy with it. Already planning next project :-
)” - Ronnie
Side Table
“I needed a small side table, and this one was quick to put together. I used: 8- 3/4" EMT
sections cut to the desired length, 4- 90 degree connectors, 4- threaded pipe inserts, 4-
rubber pipe feet, 4- screws, and 1- High-density polyethylene commercial cutting board,
15" x 20" (Sam's club). The cutting board made for a nice, durable, waterproof tabletop. I
cut the pipes, assembled the frame, and turned it upside down on the bottom of the
tabletop to mark the location for drilling attachment holes. The threaded pipe inserts
made it easy to attach the top using the four screws. Maybe I will paint or shrink-wrap the
pipes, but for my purpose, this was perfect.” - George
Patio Couch
Spending money on outdoor furniture can be a rough experience especially if you don’t get
furniture that is sturdy enough to withstand the elements. With conduit and Maker Pipe you
can custom make your own DIY furniture that fits your style and needs! See more info and
photos here.
Pipe Table
This is infamously known as the Storm Trooper build for obvious reasons. The builder added an
artistic touch to give this table a futuristic look with all the cool angles. He added white shrink
wrap which pairs nicely with the black connectors. See more photos and info from the builder
here.
Add On Shelving
This builder used Maker Pipe and various connectors to add shelving and storage to their
pre built desk setup!
Pipe Desk
This pipe desk is simple and affordable with an easy frame built with a few T’s and 90’s. There
is a simple added shelf so the desktop can be displayed.
3D Printer Stand
We needed a stand to hold our printer and we needed a storage solution to hold the
filament. We built this awesome stand with offset shelving that holds the printer and
filament!
Quilting Desk
Although this desk was designed for quilting it showcases the potential for other types of
desks that have integrated storage. It has added racks on the sides for quilts and multiple
shelves throughout. See how it works and how it was built here.
Kids Desk
This desk was designed for home schooling during the pandemic. They used a simple design
with bent pipes for the legs and added a table top with one hole straps.
Side Table
You only need four 90 degree connectors to build this easy side table. Customize the lengths
and top to make a accent piece that matches your style! Check out the full post here for more
build info.
Kid’s Chair
Sometimes finding the right size chair for a kid is too difficult or expensive. Instead build
your own to match the measurements you need and customize the colors to fit a certain
style or aesthetic.
Pipe Desk
As you can tell this next desk is quite elaborate. It has multiple storage shelves on the sides
and under the main work area. It also has the keyboard and mouse on a rolling shelf. The
desktop has 3 monitors mounted using clamp style mounts, and then 3 more attached to the
wall!
Step Stool
This step stool is super easy to assemble and can be used in various ways! Use it reach high
shelves or turn it into entryway bench.
Bar Stools
Finding the perfect stools or chairs can be difficult unless you build your own to fit your
needs. Customize the height and colors to fit your style!
Flooring Desk
”This wasn’t too complex, but Maker Pipe was the ideal solution for a new desk I was building. I
had leftover tongue and groove flooring that I used for the desktop. I had intended to use black
iron pipe for the legs, but Maker Pipe was a better solution. I was very pleased with how the
heat shrink went on. Table top dimensions are 24”x62”.” - Wade
Driveway Gate
Here is a great build from Le. They made a driveway gate using conduit and Maker Pipe. It
looks like the wires going across are attached to eye hooks drilled into the pipes. The
lights look to be solar-powered and have an opening just the right size for conduit. The
whole thing is on casters so they can roll it away from their driveway when need be. Looks
like a great solution!
Plant Stand
“I purchased the desk parts kit. I scaled down the measurements to the standard size shelf
board of 12 × 24 inches. This was the perfect fit to go over the trash can and put my
plants up into the sunlight. This is a southern facing window of the house.” - Mark
Bathroom Shelf
”Couldn’t find shelves I liked so I made my own to match my restroom theme.” - Oscar
Skateboard Rack
“Was looking for a good way to get these skateboards off the floor and organized. Maker
pipe to the rescue.” - Jason
3 Tiered Shelf
”Ordered these because I love the concept of building with EMT. I work as an electrician, so
working with EMT is second nature to me. Knocked out this small shelf unit in under an hour. Im
super happy with the quality of the fittings and the ease of use. Have already ordered more for
future projects. Ideas are just swimming through my head now.” - Tyree (Review of T Connector)
Painting Storage
Here we have another art storage build from Mark. This one has similar dimensions but
different features. Instead of mesh he used plywood for the shelves. The paintings are also
protected by outer access panels that clip on to the frame. Check out his community post
for more details and exact dimensions.
Bin Shelving
Have you ever stacked storage bins only to find out that you need something from the bottom
bin. Isn’t that the worst? Well worry no more. Build this easy bin storage unit. Customize them
to your specific needs!
Bike Stand
We built this bike stand for the kickstarter. It is simple to build and can be broken down easily
for transportation. Customize the size to fit your bike and add shrink wrap to fit your style.
Shelving Add-On
The desk was from Amazon but lacked the amount of storage space the user needed. They
added on the overhead shelving and the shelf structure off to the side. They matched the
shelving wood and wrapped the conduit with black shrink wrap and it looks like it’s supposed to
be apart of it.
Leaning Shelf
This easy to build storage shelf was designed to lean against a wall for support. It has shrink
wrap to add a clean finish to the build and 3 shelves. Customize it to fit your specific needs!
Kitchen Island
This new homeowner needed more storage and counter space in his kitchen so he used
Maker Pipe and conduit to build this beautiful mobile kitchen island cart.
Bike Storage
Biking around your local city is a great way to get around, but not if it means you have to
sacrifice space in your house or apartment. This builder used some off the shelf galvanized
pipe and Maker Pipe to build simple and adjustable bike storage racks!
Weight Rack
This homeowner wanted a designated spot for their weights that made for easy access and
organization. This simple and effective rack was the solution. The shelves have two horizontal
pipes that are spaced perfectly so the weights will rest on them.
Garage Organization
We’ve all been there, the garage is overly cluttered and never seems to get better. It can be
time consuming to organize it, but the end result is totally worth it as you can see in this build.
There is tons of plastic bin storage and drawers. Everything is labeled which makes finding what
you need that much easier.
Entryway Shelf
This entryway needed a custom sized shelf to fit correctly and the owners couldn’t find a
prebuilt solution so they built their own. Using 90 Degree Connectors they were able to
make the 4 corners all the way up and add three shelves spaced out to their exact needs!
Bin Storage
This bin storage shelf uses offset pipes so the bins slide in and are secured at an angle. It can
be easily customized to fit a certain space or to fit a custom number of bins.
Garage Organization
This garage storage solution uses T connectors, conduit, and wooden shelves to help declutter
the garage. Customize how many shelves and the lengths of the pipe to fit your specific needs.
Bedroom Shelving
This awesome shelving unit is attached to the wall using ¾” emt flanges and connects all the
conduit runs with T connectors. With black shrink wrap and stained wood shelves this build
looks clean and is customized to fit the space perfectly.
Shelving System
Maximize your space by building a custom shelving system that fits your exact needs. Use a
shelf material that matches your personal aesthetic and design. Check out the builders post
here.
Ball Organizer
The last thing everyone needs right about now is a trip to the E.R. after tripping over a
basketball as you’re rushing out the door in the morning. This maker built a really simple
ball organizer using string and T Connectors!
Cable Reel
Don’t spend unnecessary money on a cable reel that does the same function as this easy DIY
reel. With a supporting pipe in the middle you can manually roll up the cables with ease!
Shelving Unit
“My son and I just built this shelf unit for his room. It is 6’x6’ which is too big to move around the
house. We couldn’t split it vertically because we wanted the shelves to span the width and attach
through holes. Instead, we split it horizontally in a way I haven’t seen before. It worked really well
so I thought I should share. The concern was how to connect and support the top section… But I
was worried about it not having any support from side to side. I came up with the solution you see
here. I put a 1/2” section inside the 3/4” conduit. It is about 6 inches longer than the outer pipe so
it sticks up. The top section fits over those and is perfectly lined up with the coupling offering
some added side-to-side support. The 1/2” conduit has a little play so we added a ring of shrink
wrap below the coupling to keep it from clanging when knocked. With six of these all holding each
other in place side to side, the unit feels solid as a rock…” - Marc

Armor Stand
Lost Wax is a content creator who makes all sorts of amazing props and costumes like the
foam armor you see above. He used EMT Conduit and Maker Pipe fittings to create a simple
stand that supports and displays the armor sets in an awesome way. Check out his build
video here.
LED Display
A church up North built this amazing LED display to use as a backdrop for their services. To
date it is one of the largest Maker Pipe builds we’ve seen. They used a ton of 180 Degree
Connectors to build the frame. They had to get a semi to bring enough conduit for the
project!
Architectural Props
”2 years ago I applied to graduate school — I decided to embark on a new creative journey, one
I dove into with all of heart and soul. I have discovered so much about my self as a human and
artist. I have met some amazing people that have helped support my vision and have guided
me to this special moment I am living in right now. Today I will dance my final dance in grad
school while also telling myself that this is only the beginning of so much more. Thank you to
everyone that has been apart of my development as an artist and has stuck right by me, means
everything to me.” - @Taralynnhowse
Wedding Backdrops
“These curtains made with 1/2" conduit are a backdrop to cover stage musical and sound
equipment for weddings. The fittings from Maker Pipe worked really well and the customer
service was great.” - Donald (Review of T Connector)
Holographic Cubes
“Hello everyone. I am a professional circus artist and I used makerpipe to create a frame for
a holographic cube.” - Ken
Ferris Wheels
This is another awesome build that is hard to truly appreciate through a photo. Mark built
this motorized ferris wheel that lights up and spins around. It is mounted on Mark’s deck and
prominently displays the positive message “Allow the light of your brightest day to shine
onto your darkest hour”. Click here to see the ferris wheel in action.
COVID-19 Cubicles
With strict social distancing guidelines in place this church needed a way to safe way to have
musicians on stage. They built these cubicles using Maker Pipe and Lexan panels. Each
cubicle is designed to minimize microphone feedback.
Storefront Shelves
This storefront used Maker Pipe and a mixture of other materials to create a full length
merchandise shelving unit. Equipped to hold shirts, pants, and smaller items on the smaller
shelves.

Matthew built these signs for the road race timing company that he operates. He used a cool
technique with a releasable pin that makes tear down and reassembly easy and quick.
Packing Station
Grant from Morgan Tool & Die was inspired by Saunders Machine Works to create this
packing station that fit their space and needs. It is designed to hold a couple different box
sizes as well as bubble wrap and other packing supplies that they need at the ready.
Dining Igloos
Many states are beginning to allow indoor dining with some necessary precautions and
guidelines. Companies such as the ones building these igloos have come to the rescue in this
trying time. They make these dining igloos for businesses and use Maker Pipe and conduit as a
solution for the framework.
Sewing Tables
“Hey Maker Pipe, I am replacing sewing machine tables in the plant I work at. Here are a
few pictures of the finished product. I had to add extensions for the product to rest on while
sewing, yet still be able to access the overhead handling system we maintain. Everyone is
happy with the finished design thus far. We will definitely be making more soon. Thank you
for a great product that is so versatile. Have a great day all.” - Yul
Timing Tripod
“I used the adjustable angle connectors to create a tripod for mounting lap timing equipment
in Northern Michigan. The snow/ice base helped stabilize it and it held up in 45mph+ winds
overnight. I used one 10ft piece of conduit for the main pole and cut another 10ft piece into
3rds for the legs.” - Josh
Tradeshow Booth
The Tech Valley Center of Gravity built this booth to showcase their awesome makerspace
at a woodworker’s showcase. They incorporated some nice bends and really clever hacks.
Check out their Instagram post for more info about the build.
Tiki Hut/Volcano
This project is very unique and you most likely won’t be recreating the build unless you’re a
Hawaii enthusiast, but this project is awesome and shows the adaptability of Maker Pipe. A
marching band was in need of some inexpensive props for their halftime show. Check out the
build notes and more photos here.
Classroom Storage
This bin storage shelf was used for classroom storage so students would have easy access to
utensils and supplies. The design is really simple and features slanted shelves that are spaced
perfectly apart so the bins rest inside the two pipes.

Here is a fantastic table built as a writing center for a school. With the pegboard in the back
and the storage in the seats there is tons of options for storing utensils and other school
supplies.
Flight Simulator
This flight sim was shared by @camperbeast1 on Instagram. It features four monitors, flight
controls, arm rests, speakers, and more. It is truly an epic setup!
Seesaw
This seesaw was built for a local to us school a few years ago. We used T Connectors to
achieve the triangle shape that allowed the two riders to rock back and forth!
Blanket Fort
This was a really simple fort built by the owners Dave and Kelly for their daughter Bailey. They
used conduit and T Connectors to make a frame around the couch that would hold blankets for
the fort. They finished off the fort with rubber feet along the two front legs to keep the floor
safe from exposed conduit ends.
Cannonball Race
This was built for one of the various Maker Faires we attended a few years ago. Using T
Connectors we made a slanted track that allows to players to race a ball to the bottom. The
ball that reached the bottom first set off a light that announced the winner!
Bebop bars
Each bar had a circuit connected to it so that when you touched each bar the signal would run
to the computer and speakers would play a specific note.
Treadmill Railing
The builder of this railing system needed added safety on their treadmill. They came up with
this simple frame that goes around the treadmill sides and front. The pipes were wrapped in
foam to keep the runner safe and give them something to grab on to.
Brew Stand
This simple brew stand was built by a hobbyist who couldn’t find a solution for his
equipment. Since the equipment is often mis matched it can be hard to find the right stand.
He built this one using T Connectors and it fits his space perfect
Push Up Bars
This past year as left everybody suddenly doing everything at home which includes exercise.
The builder of these push up bars had a couple of T Connectors left so he built these really
simple push up bars. He bent the conduit into an arch for the handles then used the T’s to
connect the horizontal legs.
Crutches
Spraining ankles is technically a hobby, but I still wanted to share this build because it has a
really cool story. The builder had connectors and conduit laying around waiting to be used
on another project when his girlfriend hurt her ankle. It wasn’t bad enough to need medical
attention, but she still needed to stay off the ankle for a couple of days. He grabbed a few of
his connectors and 5 minutes later, DIY crutches!
Speaker Holder
You may recognize the canopy from earlier and that’s because the same builder added this
simple build on the canopy frame. He used two T Connectors and utilized the open back of the
speaker. Really simple but an effective way to add a speaker to his deck!
Brewing Cart
Another great hobby/passion build is this at home brewing cart. It has a propane connection
to heat up the pots, and a pump that runs the homebrew between the pots.
Flight Simulator
”Work in progress for a flight sim chair. Maker Pipe is making it happen! The most fun part of
the build so far was using 3/4 conduit, conduit hangers, and drawer slides to build a frame that
will eventually be a dashboard/helm that I can slide away for easy access to the seat.” - Leif
Golf Simulator
"I looked at buying a kit and they wanted like $1200 for it and I had to buy the conduit, the
second most expensive item. So I started to look for the conduit connectors which seemed to be
the only difficult to find item in their self build package. When I found maker pipe, I knew I could
do it all myself. Here is the picture of the final project and a couple of steps in the build." - John
Workshop Shelf
“Got my first set of supplies and made my first project. A simple shelf to under my work table in
my Laser studio. I'm quite happy with it.” - Troy
Painting Rack
“This is a paint rack I built for my laser shop. I will attach the parts and build instructions later if
anyone is interested.” - Keith
Tool Organizer
This tool organizer is another fantastic use of space in the garage. This small area is holding
tons of screwdrivers, wrenches, power tools, batteries, tape measures, and other hardware
accessories. You can’t tell from the picture, but this organizer is able to pull out from the wall
and swivel around for easy tool access!
Generator Frame
Generators while useful aren’t designed to be moved around often especially after they get
warmed up. To remedy the awkwardness of handling it this builder made this custom frame
that allows them to move it around their garage!
Material Organizer/Cart
Brent from the BYOT YouTube channel built this cart for holding all the different materials he
uses when building. After it was all said and done the cart was holding over 500 pounds of
materials! Check out his video if you want to see how it was made.
MPCNC Frame
The Mostly Printed CNC is a very cool machine that can be used as a laser engraver, 3d
printer, and more. Find out more about it here. This is a frame that allows a 4ft by 4ft cutting
area be used with the MPCNC. This inexpensive frame solution pairs great with the CNC kit.
Hose Arm
This simple build uses a couple of 45 Degree Connectors to elevate the vacuum hose. This
allows for easy use and keeps the hose from getting tangled up while vacuuming up chips
from the builders machine.
Woodshop Storage
This material storage is really cool. The left side offers storage for smaller things like trim
pieces, and the right side can hold larger materials. A clever thing they did with this was the
wire shelving used to keep things separated.
Machining Cart
This machinist wanted a way to use his machine while still saving space and having it
mobile He built the cart at an angle to save space and then used casters to achieve the
mobility he was after.
Rolling Workbench
This simple workbench is made from EMT Conduit and a few 90 Degree and T Connectors. Each
vertical has a locking caster wheel which makes for easily mobilization around the shop.
Workshop Table
This simple table is made up of just a few connectors. It has plenty of space on top and
underneath for storage. The top is secured to the conduit frame with one hole straps.
Plant Arbor
"Hi! Here’s my first build - a simple arbor for roses and clematis, with cedar fence planks for
added shade/privacy. After fully constructing the two lengths, I enlisted helpers to get it upright
and “threaded” over 1/4” rebar posts. Leveling was a whole new challenge since the ground is
uneven so I ended up attaching 1/4” steel hose clamps to three of the rebar posts to raise any of
the sides that needed adjustment. So far, that seems to hold the pipe legs level. We’ll see how
that goes when the vines add weight to the structure. Finally, I added some leftover 8’ cedar
fence boards to the short side, for additional shade and privacy. I may add mesh or wire to the
tops and sides for added support for tying in the climbers next spring before the vines take off. I
love how it turned out!" - Wendy
Greenhouse Roof
You may not need a greenhouse this big or maybe you need one bigger! Either way this
greenhouse is a great example of the possibilities with Maker Pipe and conduit. With roof
beams connected with 180’s and braced with the 45 degree connectors you can build a sturdy
greenhouse roof!
Garden Trellis
Build your very own raised garden bed/trellis with just a few materials. With designated
“rooms” for each of your plants you can get started on your garden easily! Check out the full
post for more photos.

to the soil. You can customize the height and width to fit your specific needs.
Garden Enclosure
If you have a pre-existing raised garden bed, and are dealing with critters getting into your
greens then this enclosure can be a perfect solution. With just a few connectors and some
chicken wire you can build this sturdy enclosure to keep your garden safe!
Aquaponics
This fantastic aquaponics flooding tray was built by a community member who needed a
custom size for his space. He used 90 Degree Connectors for each corner and T Connectors
with 180’s for cross pipes where needed.
Garden Enclosure
Here we have another great example of a raised garden bed enclosure. This time the frame was
connected to a stone structure and wrapped with chicken wire. A couple cool features are the
barn style doors used to open and get in the garden.
Garden Sunshade
Another great addition to any raised garden bed is a sun shade like this one. This build uses a
simple frame connected to the raised garden bed with one hole straps.
Outdoor Shower
After a long day in the garden you’re probably pretty dirty or maybe you’re sandy after a day at
the beach.. Clean up in this easy outdoor shower.
Compost Bin
Build this easy compost bin to speed up your organic material recycling! Use longer or
shorter pipes to customize to your specific composting needs!
Seedling Germination
Give your new plants the germination area they deserve with this simple light stand.
Customize the pipe measurements to fit your specific space or plant quantity. Check out the
post from the builder!
Hydroponic System
Over the years we have seen some great hydroponic builds that use a mixture of Maker Pipe
and pvc in the design. This micro green system however uses all Maker Pipe for the frame!
Seedling Cart
This is a prebuilt seedling cart with a bit of a twist. The builder used Maker Pipe and a custom
spring loaded T Connector design that allows for quick changing of the heights for when the
plants begin to grow.
Trellis
This simple and easy to build trellis design works great for raised garden beds. The builder
used 180’s, T Connectors, and some off the shelf couplings in their design and the build led to
over 240 cukes being produced!
Greenhouse/Shelter
As winter began this builder needed a quick solution to protect their garden. Using a mixture of
connectors they built this great enclosure frame. All they had to do was add some greenhouse
plastic and the plants were safe!
Orchid Shelf
This shelf uses some cool techniques like the wooden flange and bracing with the T’s. It has a
very simple yet effective design that can be customized and used for different applications.
Trellis Arch
"I was finally able to pull the trigger on this trellis. (I had to wait until I built enough of the
terrace it sits on.) There are several hacks in this project I'd like to share. I used 1/2" EMT for
this project because it's cheaper and easier to bend than 3/4" and plenty strong for this
application. I have a simple trellis in my garden that's about six years old that's made of 1/2"
EMT and has stood through some pretty severe storms (one of which took down a nearby tree).
The trellis is anchored to the ground using 1/2 rebar. I cut the rebar into 17" lengths and drove
each piece about half way into the ground, then set the trellis legs over the rebar. The raised bed
was built around the trellis afterward so that the legs are partially buried as well. It's pretty
sturdy.” - Raymond
Hydroponic Stand
"Back from paint. This is a hydroponic stand built for Ultra-Pot Advanced Grow Systems. I will
be adding adjustable legs, casters, rollers, guide rails and a back rail on the bottom half to this
build soon. Please Follow the link above for updates as they happen.” - Dankies Farm
Bean Trellis
“Check out my @makerpipe trellis system. The pole beans are looking great this season. A
later planting seemed to have done wonders so far.” - @redfernfarmva
Seedling Table/Greenhouse
“I built this new seedling table/greenhouse to grow and harden off all of my vegetable and
flower seedlings this spring. For this build I used 3/4” EMT conduit pipe, a livestock fence panel
and maker Pipe fittings to hold it all together. Would you be interested in a step by step build
tutorial for this project?” - Urbanfarmstead
Garden Enclosure
"My first attempt to protect my wife’s blueberry bushes was a rather small enclosure made
from wooden stakes and bird netting. After about 3 years the bushes were getting bigger, so
the enclosure needed a proper rebuild. This time I choose a maker pipe build. I made a model
with the minis to make sure I had all the correct connectors and then got some ¾” galvanized
conduit and started the build (see material build list). The enclosure frame is 9’ long by 7’ wide
and 6’ 6” high. The 6 corner and support pipes were cut at 8’ lengths and then driven into the
ground to the correct height using a level and a fence post driver pounder. To keep the door
hardware simple I opted for galvanized hinges and a black gate latch. The bottom lattice keeps
the rabbits out and the upper section is standard bird netting. My wife hung some Mardi gras
beads around the top to keep the birds from flying into the netting.” - Peter
Garden Enclosure
Jo shared some photos of the fence she made to keep deer out of her garden. She said the gate
doesn't hinge but rater hooks with coat hangers for easy access. That is a really clever solution
for making a removable gate!
Enclosure Roof
Norman sent in some photos of an enclosure roof that he built for the top of his wooden
enclosure project. It’s always cool to see a combination of materials that get the job done.
Tomato Tree
Gardening with Allessandra posted this tomato tree tutorial back in the Spring. It’s a great
watch if you’re looking to do something similar.
Garden Fence
“Made a fence for my wife's garden to keep the critters out. Only real problems were my
counting of parts (had to do a supplemental order) and the stuff got here so fast the fence
material is not here yet. Will try and document the build soon and my car top device for
transporting home 10ft lengths of 3/4 EMT on top of a Subaru. Very useful products for those
of us with creative minds. Now I just need some full scale LEGO ;o)” - Don (Review of T
Connector)
Greenhouse
“I rebuilt greenhouse this year. Extra pipe on top to add inner cover like a big tree cover. All of
plants are supposed to be cold hardy but I just want to be safe.” - Kana
Greenhouse
“I use it for my little hobby garden. Use as greenhouse for winter, trellis for last summer. I will
make it better this year!” - Kana
Hoophouse
“With some extra pieces I ordered…protect some plants from the upcoming morning frost (bent
the tubes using your calculator!)” - Jose
Garden Sunshade/Enclosure
“We live near Boston so we get intense heat and cold winters. This is my build for a kitchen
garden cover. Shade cloth for summer and plastic all around for cold weather. I really had fun
designing, redesigning, and building it. I still have to do a short gate to keep the dog out and add
another long string of pipe along the garage side about a foot higher than the current height so
rain can roll off the plastic. The garage side has legs down into the ground for stability.” - Lynn
Trellis/Sunshade
“Another trellis post. The neat thing about the maker "grown up tinker toys" is reconfiguration is
so darned easy. I had a trellis that was functional but my husband wanted more deck room to do
deck things (imagine that) so I rearranged my deck garden. The deck picture is of the new trellis
and the lower and lean system (which I am connecting to the plants tomorrow after I get my
peppers planted in the main garden. If the new set-up works, next year we will refine the trellis
for the bed against the wall and cut the supports so that I could slope a polycarbonate roof over
the tomatoes. It is a grow bad sub irrigation set up.” - Nancy
Patio Arbor
“We searched for quite a while for an arbor that would fit the space we have on our porch and
cast shade where it was needed. (The concrete slab is a super-efficient heat sink located where
we really don't need more heat.) A custom arbor seemed the perfect solution when a
commercial one could not be found. Wood was the first choice for material but cost was high
and we'd need to invest in pricy tools. Then we discovered Maker Pipe and began to plan. Cost
was reasonable; materials and tools were reasonably priced when compared to the investment a
wood arbor would require.” - Karen (Review of End Plug Caps)
Pawpaw Trellis
James recently shared a build video in the Facebook group that showcases this awesome trellis
from start to finish. Check it out here.
Freestanding Trellis
This freestanding trellis build comes from Nature’s Always Right on YouTube. His video
showcases the connectors and explains the process for building a long lasting sturdy garden
trellis. Click here to watch the video.
Plant Sunshade
“I had been trying to beat the heat in Dallas for plants and found no relief. Maker Pipe made it
possible to create a low cost and very customized solution to keep my new seedlings from being
scorched by the Texas sun. Thank you Maker Pipe!” - Bobby
Raspberry Trellis
Nickolas sent in some photos of his raspberry trellises. Really unique design that looks awesome
and gets the job done!
Combo Trellis/Greenhouse
“I built what I hope will be a very versatile trellis system for my raised bed - I can use it in the
winter to support frost cloth and I can use it in the summer to support my tomatoes. The trellis
is about 7.5 ft tall (the highest I can reach w/o a ladder) and has two "shelf supports" - one at the
top of the frame and one about 30" from the top of the raised bed. I purchased a piece of 8' x
50" cattle panel and cut it into two pieces (8' x 20" and 8' x 24"). I slightly bent the 24" piece to
form an arched top that fits perfectly between the trellis frame. The arch supports frost cloth
w/o sagging and allows water to run off. I can't prove it (I have no engineering experience), but
the arch also seems to make the panel a little sturdier.” - Heather
Trellis Reinforcement
“This is exactly what I was looking for: 45 degree structural pipe connector. From the photo you
will also see the T connector as well. Thank you.” - Ben (Review of 45 Degree Connector)
Tomato/Cuke Trellis
“Got my tomato and cucumber trellis up yesterday. Painted with oil rubbed bronze spray paint.
Included the lower bars for spring protection upper bars for cordon attachment space between
for cucumbers is attached to two cross bars and the uprights with velcro thanks to maker pipe
and all the folks here for inspiration!” - Lee
Garden Trellis
“Hi folks, All done! I have 250+ pounds of tomatoes beginning to grow (12 plants). I did the same
thing last year out of 3/4" PVC and the thing turned into a pretzel...lol. This year, I'm hopeful.
3/4" roof (because I cantilever corners) to fasten cables to each plant. 1/2" base and 1/2"
verticals. Heat shrink in white for aesthetics look good with black brackets. Wife informed me
she does not want to see the base frame, or pipes outside of the garden boxes... so the only
solution was to put the base under the planter boxes, with a vertical sticking out between them.
2 verticals each side x 4 sides. I think we're ok with strength as I'm 260 pounds and was able to
hang from the cantilevered corner, no problem. Thanks!” - Tom
Greenhouse
“Basic kit worked great. The cutter is excellent. Here are a couple of photos of our urban Boston
area winter garden project. We’ll be buttoning bed up with cover and clips. I may cut the posts a
bit but haven’t decided yet. Thank you again for a wonderful product, easy to use!” - Michele
(Review of Mixed Bundle)
Hacks
JB Welded Stud
“I got a bolt to stick out the bottom of a 1/2 pipe using an expansion bolt and some epoxy putty.
I think it is cool and wanted to share.” - Marc
Gate Hinge
“I was looking for a way to use brass hinges on my garden gates. I solved the problem of
attaching a flat hinge to the round ½ inch conduit by attaching a piece of ¾ inch aluminum angle.
The angle is bolted to the conduit with stainless #8 bolts that I already had on hand. The hinge is
bolted to the other side of the angle. The biggest hassle is making sure the two pieces of angle
for the hinges are aligned. I clamped the pipe and angle in a vise for drilling.” - Richard
Stacked Connectors
“I had some fun integrating 3/4” connectors and 1“ in the same build. As it turns out, the 1” pro-
T will fit over the 3/4” connectors in several places allowing for some tight configurations.” -
Jason
2 - 3/4" Insert and threaded base adapter. It slides inside the EMT conduit and the threaded end
fits a 3/4" base flange.” - Aksel
Holiday Builds
Halloween Armature
“I just completed my first build with Maker Pipe, using it to create an armature for a large
Halloween decoration. Most of the difficulties were my own fault, the only
recommendation/question I have is that I’d love if the nut end had a hex fitting for extra
tightening. I didn't realize that at first and had to redo all of the connections to face the opposite
direction (the hex side was covered by the sculpture). Also I would have liked to make some of
the connections a little tighter. Without the hex on the nut, I couldn’t grip the nut well enough
to keep it from turning. There may be an obvious reason for this I missed, but that's really the
only issue I had. Also I bought the hand cutter and it worked great. Love the ability to create a
structure without major tools! In all I'm really happy with maker pipe and definitely plan to use it
again! - Michael (Review of T Connector)
Light Up Star
“My first Maker Pipe project: a frame for mounting a holiday star to the roof of my house. Clips
onto the parapet wall facing diagonally as shown. Verticals with pipe insulation in front and
behind wall keep it stable in the high winds we get here occasionally. Offset bends in the front
verticals were the hardest part to do. Uses only 6 tee fittings. I was able to fabricate, assemble
and install in an afternoon. Unlike other solutions, Maker Pipe allows full on-site adjustments,
and is light enough that I could carry the whole thing up a ladder myself. In my exuberance, I
neglected to take pix during the build, but it’s pretty simple; much simpler than the dimensional
lumber design I came up with originally” - Douglas
Christmas Dinosaur
“I made a super sweet 12x24 light-up Christmas brontosaurus. Cause duh. People asked where
they could buy a dinosaur kit for themselves. There is apparently a hidden untapped market for
large light up metal creatures.” - Ryan
Mobile Menorah
The Menorah is a symbol of Jewish faith used in hanukkah celebrations. This particular one
was attached to the back of a truck and decorated. The builder does this every year to
celebrate the holiday!
Sukkah
A Sukkah is a temporary structure that is used for eating and sometimes sleeping during the
Jewish holiday of Sukkot. The builder of this particular hut wanted to reuse it every year so he
researched and found Maker Pipe as a solution. SInce the Connectors can easily be removed
and reused he can easily take it down and rebuild it next year!
Pumpkin Man
The builder of this spooky halloween decoration wanted an extra level of scary for trick or
treaters. He used conduit and a handful of Connectors to make this 10 foot tall pumpkin man.
He added a jack o’ lantern and lights to make it stand out even more!
Decor Frame
This holiday display consists of a wide conduit frame that uses T Connectors wherever the
builder wants to add the decor. If they want to change a position they can easily loosen and
slide the connectors along the frame.
Indoor Menorah
This menorah was setup inside the builders home, and used a different design than the
mobile Menorah. Instead of adding 45 Degree Connectors for slanted candle stands they
used T and 90 Degree Connectors to make vertical candle stands.
Holiday Archway
Here is another yearly built decoration that usually involves a PVC frame. This year the
builder used Maker Pipe and conduit for the archway and she was really happy with the
sturdiness this year compared to archways in years past!
Shul
“Decorating our shul for the shavuot holiday. It was a wow. How nice and clean the
canopy with flowers can be made.” - Bar
Santa’s Sleigh
“My husband recently discovered Maker Pipe and now he is using it for everything he
creates. We are putting on a parade tomorrow and he used his Maker Pipe extendable
light while using Maker Pipe to support the reindeer for the sleigh. Matt Lawrence of Gig
Harbor, WA making a town full of kids happy during this holiday” - Kimber
Sukkah
“This year I built a sukkah (a temporary outdoor structure) used as part of the Jewish festival
of Sukkot. Maker Pipe and EMT conduit were the perfect materials. It is 10 x 16. Only two
pipe lengths were needed, horizontals all remained at 10 ft, and all verticals and lengthwise
pieces were at 8 feet, so next year it can be easily reassembled without caring where specific
pieces go. There were 4 corner braces using the 2 foot offcuts. So it took 20 sections of pipe,
6-90 degree, 3-180 degree, 2-4 way, 2-T, and 8-45 degree connectors.” - Stuart
Mini Models
House
The Minis are great for prototyping, but also fun for kids! This house was built by a few kids
who wanted a different type of house for their lego people.
Step Railing
This model was shared in our community. The builder was prototyping different ways to do a
slanted rail design for steps in front of his house.
Corner Desk
This corner desk was built by a maker who has a custom space with a weird shaped corner.
He used the Minis to model a prototype and see exactly how to maximize the space with the
desk and shelving!
Mini Trellis
“Built my model of a garden trellis. I chose to use all straight pieces to avoid inconsistent pipe
bends.” - Bradley
Bike Cart
We built this cart for the kickstarter using all T’s. We 3D printed pipe adapters to mount the
mountain biking wheels. We used a urethane rubber for the joint to the bike,
Surfboard Rack
Here we have another great use of the caster kit. This build was designed to hold multiple
surfboards and has the ability to roll around for extra storage and mobility. The use of pool
noodles is great and protects the boards from the pipes. Check out more of the build photos
here.
Quilting Table/Cart
Another great hobbyist build that pairs well with Maker Pipe and conduit. Again we have the
added casters to make the table mobile. It also incorporates a shelf that overhangs a little for
the added quilt length.
Gravity Cart
This cart was built with steering and brakes and was designed for a gravity cart race. It was
done several years ago by a father and son team. The axle runs through the conduit.
Kayak Mover
If you have kayaks you know the struggle. They are heavy and awkward which makes them
rather annoying to move around. With this simple cart you can strap the kayak to the top and
roll it to the launch site. One tip is to add pool noodles or plumbers insulation to the conduit to
protect the bottom of the yak.
Kayak Cart
Here’s another great example of a kayak cart with a slightly different design than the other
one we’ve seen. This one sits lower to the ground and the yak supports run side to side rather
than front to back.
Bike Trailer
Using only a few T Connectors this builder made a great functioning bike trailer! Perfect for
rides where you have a lot to carry like beach gear!
Convertible Couch/Bed
“Made a slide couch/bed with maker pipe in my ambulance. Wasn’t sure how solid the
conduit and maker pipe pieces would be so I made plenty of rails… it’s definitely over built, I
can walk across the most unsupported parts and no flex.” - Lance
Target Stand
The builder of this target stand used a few T Connectors to make legs on each side. Then he
added a horizontal cross pipe that the target can hang up. It’s a really simple, but effective
way to get ready for target practice.
Backyard Lighting
This builder was weighing options for a backyard lighting solution. One option was using chain
link poles and fencing connectors. Based on his backyard size that was gonna cost close to
$600! He instead used Maker Pipe and kept the cost under $200 while getting a look he was
really happy with.
Cement Chute
Cement chutes can get up there in price, and specialized tools for one time uses don’t make
financial sense most of the time. What do you do when you don’t want to pay an arm and a
leg for something you’ll use once? Build it yourself with Maker Pipe and reuse the
connectors on another project when you’re done with it!
Soccer Goal
This soccer goal was built by us and we did a video with step by step instructions. It is really
easy to build and has bracing to make it last. Build it bigger or smaller and add some fun for
the whole family
Projector Screen
This projector screen was designed to fit a smaller space. The builder added lattice to give
the screen a nice aesthetic that matches the color of the wooden beams on the porch. The
stand for this frame was built with T’s and 45’s. It is sturdy and looks great!
RV Wind Skirting
The inspector came by the RV site and recommended the owners add some skirting for to
their temporary home to prevent frost and freezing. They used Maker Pipe and conduit for
the frame of the skirting and then used metal roofing panels to close up the space.
Hinged Gate
This gate was used to separate tennis courts. It’s a very simple design with a cool added
feature. On the left side of the barrier they added T Connectors, but didn’t tighten them all the
way so they can swing the gate open and closed!
Duck Blind
Another great example of a hunting blind for a boat. Using a bent conduit and a few T
Connectors, this builder made a simple yet effective blind that secures to the side rails of the
boat. Another cool feature of this build is the camouflage is designed to roll up and secure to
the top of the rails when not in use.
Bug Netting
Don’t let those pesky mosquitoes ruin your camping trip. Build this super simple net frame
instead! Customize the frame to your desired frame and relax in the great outdoors!
Boat Railing
Here we have a railing and framing structure for a boat. This builder is making a long journey
from Lake Michigan to the Gulf of Mexico. Since safety is important on this trip he added
custom railing and panels along the side of the boat . Happy sailing!
Turkey Hoist
"This clamp is EXACTLY what I was looking for. It arrived in pristine condition and works
exactly as it is supposed to. There is NO doubt in my mind about whether I will buy this
product again, as well as others. Keep up the good work, and branch out a bit into some
specialty fittings for tripods, etc.” - Burtin (Review of Cross Over Conduit Clamp)
Outdoor Shower
“Outside shower during bathroom renovation w/hot & cold water. Works great! Used
many tyraps & hose nozzle in shower mode. So happy to find you guys when trying to
figure out how to rig something out.” - Michael
Adaptive Sled
“I wanted to make an adaptive sled for our disabled child. She needs a bit more support and
lots of adaptive equipment is one size fits all and costs hundreds of dollars. I found a kids
“snowmobile sled” on Amazon and added supports using Maker Pipe. The sled was around
$100. The tubing had different diameters so I used PEX pipe for the shims. I trimmed the PEX
shims down so it only touched one side of the Maker Pipe clamps on the larger tube and used
the full size shim on the smaller tube. I used 6 of the original T-Connectors, 2 rubber pipe feet
and roughly 8' of 3/4" EMT conduit. The 2 risers were cut to 12" and the curved support
started at 36" and 2 90 degree bends were done in the middle. If you don't have a tubing
bender you could purchase 3 90 degree fittings.” - Patrick
Batting Cage
“I can say that my kid absolutely loves it. He hits in here daily, and has probably taken
upwards of 1,500 pitches since completion!" - John
Bike Trailer
Tim shared some photos of his beach bike cart build! Looks like an awesome solution with a
lot of great hacks incorporated. Check out the community post with more details and photos
here.
Chainsaw Mill
“Just finished the video on a chainsaw mill build that I did. I used maker pipe for the saw
carriage as well as the log holders. The application for the log holders was new to me, and it
took me awhile to figure out something that worked. I needed a tee connector to slide well
when loosened but then also remain tight when the bolt was tightened. What worked was
removing one of the friction bands.” - Billy
Equipment Rack
"I built a frame that has extensions on top and folding hooks on the back. Now, I can put a
water jug, bucket, and gear underneath. I can put chairs, a net, and/or an EZ Up on top. I can
hang a chair on the hooks on the back. My wife added an organizer on the side. I put 2 small
supports on the side to hold the organizer in place. The connectors are on the short cross
members loose enough so that I can slide them together or apart easily. When broken down,
the whole thing is less than 4” deep. I have the spring clamps so that I can mount the whole
thing on the wall out of the way when not in use. The hooks on the back are loose enough so
that they can be moved into place or out of the way without tools." - Jason
Generator Stand
"I wanted to share my 3300 generator stand with you. This has a real purpose I was at an
event and both of my generators got flooded from a flash rain storm. These also intake air
around the bottom of the orange housing now they don't suck in a bunch of sand and dust
very easy build super strong. Thank you for the great fittings it took less than 2 sticks of 3/4
EMT.” - Roy
Outdoor Shower
“My outdoor shower project was on a wishlist for a long time and once I found out about
Maker Pipe, I knew how to build it. I've seen the shower builds on this site, so thanks for that
inspiration. I have a small lake cabin with lots of neighbors close by, so I wanted something
that would be aesthetically pleasing. We also have a closed septic system where I have to
pay to have all waste water pumped out, so the outdoor shower would also save on sewer
pumping. Finally, I wanted it to be big enough to allow for a changing area so guests have a
place to change and then shower when they come back in, so water and debris don't get
tracked through the house…” - Kevin
RV Wind Skirting
“This is a solution I came up with to frost-proof the underside of our travel trailer. We'll be
living in it for the next year or so while we build our house in southwest Virginia (it gets cold
here). Maker Pipe was used as the framing structure around the bottom breezeway of the
RV. It provided something strong to attach metal roofing panels to. I simply drove the EMT
right into the ground and attached some horizontal runs with Maker Pipe to make my way
around the entire perimeter. Self-tapping screws worked perfect to attach the panels to the
bars. Lastly, I added some Styrofoam pipe wrap along the top edge to cover up the rough
edges of the metal roofing panels and to protect the sides of the RV from scratches… The
metal panels are nice and tight and aren't going anywhere. We've had some strong winds, too
and the strength of the Maker Pipe hasn't budged. - Jon
Cement Chute
“Normally I use Maker Pipe for shelves, chairs and wizard boxes. This time I made supports for
a cement chute. The angle connectors really strengthen the entire design.” - Julius (Review of
T Connector)
UTV Basket
Jason recently shared this front rack that he built for his side by side. It looks like he used
some fabricated mounting arms to combine the new rack to the bumper. It looks like it’s
straight out of the factory!
Paddleboard Cart
“Just finished a new cart to walk 2 paddle boards and 2 paddles a 1/2 mile to lake shore to
launch. Because the paddle boards are long (11' and 12') and will extend well beyond the cart
frame, I mounted the handle on the side so the user walks alongside the cart.” - Kristen
Firewood Rack
“I recently got a fireplace wood insert and given the amount of wood I was carting into my
house on a daily basis, I decided to build a rack. Here's my build of a 5x3x1 indoor wood stack
capable of storing about 1/10 of a cord of wood.” - Zeke
Poolside Cabana
“We built this cabana by the pool to add privacy and shade for the hot Texas summers.” -
Mike
Sandbox Cover
“Built this adjustable sandbox shade/cover using 3/4" EMT conduit and Maker Pipe parts.
The vertical posts are 6'6" and secured to the sandbox using the flange connector. (For added
strength, I used threaded inserts and washers secured with a 1/4-20 bolt on each flange, as
seen here: https://youtu.be/T3fltP7HRM8?t=322). The horizontal pieces up top are secured
to the vertical beams using the 90 degree connector piece. The shade is attached to the
vertical posts loosely using parachute cord; this allows the shade to be raised and lowered
along the vertical posts so that it can function as a cover when the sandbox isn't being used.
Along the horizontal posts, I have attached 8 6" bungees that clip into the grommets on the
side of the shade to hold it in the up position. To angle the shade, the desired bungees can be
detached and the shade pulled down to the appropriate angle.” - Kevin
Swing Sunshade
Peter shared this cool build through email. It is a sunshade structure for large wooden swings
that their company manufactures. Check out their website here.
Outdoor Storage
“I started this project last fall weeks before I found out maker pipe existed. As soon as I found
your company I shifted my focus and started integrating your product. The goal was to build a
temporary storage shed avoiding additional property taxes levied and to make it a bit bigger
than a normal shed to meet my needs. It measures 22’ wide by 35.5’ long and about 16’ tall. The
opening is about 10.5’x10.5’ and I assembled the first 20’ or so in a cube truss so I can store my
pickup truck loaded with a camper inside along with several other vehicles. The remaining
trusses are at about 8’. The shed is freestanding but I’ve learned that it won’t support any more
than a 6” snow load without the additional lumber supports so I get 3 seasons open and winter
using the lumber supports when there’s a snow load on the roof. Since I’ve shrink wraped many
boats over the years I’ve come accustomed to using shrinkwrap and that’s the cover. I’m
planning for 5 years but will likely get 10 or more out of the wrap. 2021 cost of this is about
$3300 plus about two weeks to design and assemble. I think that’s a reasonable outlay.” - Matt
Boat Blind
“Built a whole blind on a boat for duck hunting. Pieces fit perfectly. If I decide I don't like
something, I can loosen the fittings and change whatever I want. I'd definitely recommend
these, and I plan on buying a whole lot more in the future!” - Chad (Review of T
Connector)
Boat Blind
“You guys have a great product. It worked perfect for my duck blind frame with 3/4" EMT
conduit.” - Matt
Boat Cover
“Have a john boat that is open in the middle. Had a hard time finding anything that would
keep the boat cover up. Built a frame out of 1/2"EMT 6-4 ways, 2-T's, 1-135 degree. Works
perfect. And lite enough to be picked up out of boat. Not fancy but happy with first build.” -
Dean
Boat Blind
“Removable / foldable duck blind I made recently!” - Dan
Boat Blind
“My last purchase was I think my third purchase from Maker Pipe . I keep coming back for
more connectors because they are so versatile adaptable and strong . I have built three blinds
two for my boat and one for the field . I would 100% recommend the Maker Pipe Connectors
to anyone novice or experienced. Thanks for a great reliable product.” - Richard (Review of T
Connector)
Kayak Quadmaran
“The goal: use my two existing 14’ ocean kayaks and make a reliable, motorized large
platform for fly fishing and trolling lakes/rivers… I’m sharing the WIP design plans and early
build pics. Beyond the Maker Pipe platform, I’m planning on detailing the specs and process
for each custom boat part that is fiberglassed. I want to complete the process and water-test
this whole setup before sharing more details.” - Aaron
Kayak Cart
“Kayak cart I built with the kit and some mods so it fits my Slayer Max 12.5. Going to do a
video here of loading and unloading: https://www.youtube.com/c/BassManStrikes.” - Tony
Sunshade
“Super easy & budget friendly 10'x20' pergola build. So far, it's held up to some 25 mph
winds with no issues at all.” - Jaime
Backyard Canopy
“Thank you to Maker Pipe for all the incredible fittings to make our awning a reality!” - Rita
Awning Reinforcement
“Awning reinforced with the new maker pipe adjustable flange. I plan on ordering more
pieces to do two more corners and one more brace.” - Tammie
Boat Shelter
“I started a wooden boat build last August in my friends garage, got most of the construction
done and moved it to my house. I don't have a garage and needed a sheltered area to do
varnish and painting in. I looked at regular car canopies but they were all to wide and I didn't
want to take up any more space in my driveway than needed. Found Maker Pipe and came
up with this canopy. It is 8ft wide, 14ft long and about 8ft tall. This is a temporary structure
that will be taken down and re-purposed into another idea when I am finished with the boat.
The wall panels are just tarps connected at the top with zip ties and to 1" PVC at the
bottom. They can be rolled up when not in use and tied off at the bottom while paint is
drying.” - Haven
Skylight Shades
“I was designing an insulated dormer to go over my skylights to help with the summer heat
in Sacramento. The dormer was going to shut out a lot of the light, so I decided to build a
skylight shade structure. One of my google searches found the T Connectors which looked
ideal. So I bought the Maker Kit and 3/4" emt pipe to build 2 2x4' skylight shade frames.
They turned out great, and are expandable. Plus we still get a lot of natural light. Attached is
my preliminary design and a couple of pictures. The T Connector is great, easy to use and
cost effective. 2 more shade frames to go!” - Ted (Review of Maker Bundle)
Canoe Canopy
“I wanted to make a unique and comfortable canoe that I like to look at and be in.
MakerPipe has allowed me to continually modify my build and is a great alternative to
welding. I will be making mounts for Bluetooth speakers, battery operated fans, fishing rod
holders, sponsons, etc. More photos on my Instagram page” - Andrew
Rain Shelter
The builder of this shelter needed something to withstand the harsh weather in Alaska. He
built the basic frame then fortified it with braces and added more sections. Its anchored to
boards with ¾” flanges
Deck Covering
Deck and Patio covers can be expensive when you need a custom solution. Maker Pipe and
conduit are great solutions to use for a frame. Easily customize the measurements and
lengths to fit your exact needs! See more build photos and information here.
Trailer Storage
This trailer storage was designed specifically for a jumping jack trailer, but the structure can
work for any outdoor storage needs you may have. With several added tie downs and internal
anchors the tarp will stay secure and protect what is inside. Find out more from the builder
here and see more photos.
Patio Awning
This patio cover attached to a pre-existing structure and added some more shade for the
residents. The builder used 180’s for the long runs and 45’s to brace the structure. Another
awesome awning! See more build photos here.
Driveway Sunshade
“My first MakerPipe build. 12x16 shade carport utilizing 3/4”,1”, and 1/2” EMT. I built an
18” 2x4 knee wall to help with the securing of the 1” uprights. Tapcons used to anchor the
wall as well as the cross EMT securing to my concrete block home. The original plan was for
a custom Sunbrella boat canvas I had made. It was very heavy duty /expensive and I
changed my mind using a piece of landscape shade material instead ($79 on Amazon) The
fabric cuts the UV by 90% as well as handling the strong wind gusts ( We just had Hurricane
Ian here in SW Florida ) The ball bungees make it easy to take down.” - Fredric
Boat Shade
“Custom boat shade cover. Large enough to cover all seating.” - Sam
Deck Canopy
“For the third year in a row now, I setup my deck canopy again to stay dry while enjoying
the outdoors (and making pizza) in the upcoming rainy season. We have had an extended,
warm autumn in Portland, Oregon and it has been fantastic, but the season of rain is almost
upon us. The canopy I built is essentially the same design for the third year in a row that I
originally posted about at the beginning.” - Randy
Privacy Sunshades
“Started my back patio hospitality & sitting room project. Initially I intended to use wood to
construct a framework to secure phifer suntek 80 shade screen. Build out a little outdoor
sitting area for the family. I quickly discerned that attaching a wood framework to my all
aluminum outdoor patio awning, would be more than I could do in a DIY project. I found the
youtube makerpipe channel. Started using ¾" emt counduit with makerpipe connections;
that's something I could work with. Now we have a nice outdoor dining and sitting space.
However with makerpipe I can see the potential expansion of the entire back patio space;
and it won't be more that I can do / handle. It will be easy for me now that I got my
“makerpipe rhythm” Just gotta save a lil money up.” - Fletch
Deck Canopy
“I wanted to post this because all of the sun sail sites said do not use conduit! Unfortunately,
our back deck is about 25 feet off the ground, and metal pole was really the only option. Did
some research and found Maker Pipe, and found their online posts from members who have
successfully used 3/4” conduit. Figured for $200 in conduit and Maker Pipe parts, it was worth
looking into. We made our frame last weekend and today we were expecting rain. We were
not anticipating gusts up to 70 mph! …We would have taken the shade down as a precaution
had there been any indication of high winds. One hour and an inch and half of rain later, the
frame was still standing with no damage! Maker Pipe may be my new favorite thing!” - Jenifer
Workshop Sunshade
Josh from @twotooldesigns turned an old shipping container into a sweet workshop. He
built this sunshade to provide some cover when the container door is open. He custom
fabricated brackets and bolted them to end clamps to secure the shade structure. Check out
his TikTok about the build here.
Studio TV Stand
This studio needed a strong TV stand to support their preview display. Using a cubed truss
design they built this really sturdy stand that supports the TV and other equipment if need be.
Wildlife Observatory
“When I started this project, I did not know about Maker Pipe, so I just bent 3/4” conduit as
needed. My observation tower is 10’ 8” above ground and safety was a factor. I added the
adjustable angle connectors to add strength to my safety railing and help the steel cable
tension from pulling the railing.” - Anthony (Review of Adjustable Angle Hinge Connector)
Chicken Enclosure
The last thing you want is a predator like a bird or fox getting into your chicken pen. With this
sturdy enclosure you can sleep easy. Customize the measurements to fit your exact needs.
Check out the post from the builder.
Chicken Enclosure
Here is another great chicken enclosure example, but this time with a pitched roof and hinged
gate. This builder Incorporated bends into the roof so he would be able to freely walk around
inside if need be. Check out his community post here.
Pet Shelter
Keep your families pets safe from the sun and weather with this simple bed and shade. Use
custom measurements to fit your pets exact needs! See more build photos here.
Chicken Enclosure
If you’ve ever had chicks yourself you know there are all kinds of predators out there looking
to snatch them away. That’s exactly why this enclosure was built. With a Maker Pipe Frame
and deer fencing the chickens are safe from all threats including birds swooping in.
Goat Transportation
Yes you read the title right. The Goats of Dover is a company that moves goats from location
to location and gets rid invasive plants like poison ivy etc. They built this enclosure to keep
their goats safe inside while moving.
Dog Run
When pet owners need a specific space set aside for their dog to play and do their business,
dog runs are often the solution of choice. Prebuilt options are pretty expensive so this builder
made a simple one using a few connectors for the frame then added lattice for the walls.
Cat Tower
“Ice Queen in her new tower and a pic of her passport and mom” - @nullshane
Chicken Partition
“When chicks get to a certain size, they have GOT to go outside. Also, when introducing new
chicks or chickens to a flock it's a good idea to keep them apart but where they can get used to
each other. I used conduit and Maker Pipe connectors to build a removable partition I can set
up in our chicken run. It consists of three 4'x6' panels that can be arranged as desired and are
just joined to each other and the sides of the run with zip ties. Two are plain and one has a door.
Where I put two panels next to each other in the same plane, I inserted a length of 1/2" conduit
into them at the top and bottom to help them behave as a single panel. (I meant to get a photo
of that and forgot.) The whole enclosure is big enough to include a small coop we use just for
chicks.Once all the chickens are integrated I can easily disassemble it for storage.” - Ann
Dog Wheelchair
“Just thought I’d share the wheelchair I created for my German shorthair pointer. I think it
turned out pretty good.” - Mike
Squirrel Feeder
“Like many who feed birds in their yards, pesky squirrels, often the clowns of the yard, eat
more than their fair share. I’ve watched squirrels overcome the obstacles placed before them
using sometimes incredible acrobatics like hanging upside down from their rear feet to reach
the birdseed. While looking for ways to defeat these furry nemeses I came across several
squirrel feeder designs, all made of wood. Having some left-over short bits of ¾ conduit, I
decided to make my own using Maker Pipe.” - Stuart
Goat Feeder
Jo shared this build with us on Instagram. She made a hay feeder for her goats. It looks like
they are loving it! More photos here.
Dog Wheelchair
“Maker pipe making old dogs run fast again.” - M.D.
Turkey Roost
“I drilled and put bolts in every connector except the 45° connectors. I wanted to be sure it
wouldn't come apart in high winds with 100 lbs or more of turkeys on it. I put larger diameter
bamboo on it with zip ties and electrical tape so the turkeys could get a better grip and for
added stability. Also so they wouldn't have to grip a cold pipe in the winter. I didn't want to
portion the turkeys actually roosted on to have any connections to the side walls to try to
prevent raccoons for climbing up the conduit and getting the turkeys. I did add one
connection to the back wall for stability . Raccoons will eat small young turkeys. So if I had
been building for maximum strength I would have changed the design somewhat.” - Vic
Vehicle Builds
Van Ladder
It can be hard to reach camping gear and other things that are stored on top of a high roof
van. Chris built this ladder to solve that problem.
Ladder Rack
“Ladder rack for enclosed trailer! Simple, yet effective and $$$ saver!” - Chestly
Van Awning
Another great awning example this time used on a cool VW bus! With 4 simple conduit runs
connected with just a few T’s this awning is easy to build and looks awesome with the bus!
Conduit Hauler
Getting EMT Conduit home can be a real challenge if you opt for the 10ft long sticks. This
builder made a simple rack that elevates the conduit and rests it on the dash. Might not be
pretty but it gets the conduit home!
Bike Rack
The builder of this bike rack wanted a way to haul his fat tire bikes. He took an existing
hitch basket and added a Maker Pipe frame that could hold up and transport two bikes.
Roof Rack
Here is another great roof rack built by a customer to add storage to their vehicle. He added
pipes across the roof rack for security and extra strength.
Jeep Rack
This roof rack was designed and shared by a community member. He built this rack custom for
his newer model Jeep Wrangler. He built the frame with T’s and 90 Degree Connectors then
attached the frame to the roof with screw straps.
