Contemporary Approaches to Marketing

Kotler and Armstrong emphasizes that “the marketing process

begins, continues, and ends with customers. As a first step,
marketers need to understand customer needs and wants, and
the market place within which they operate.”

Handlin offered the 5 Step Strategic Marketing Process to

complement Kolter’s model. The five steps are:
1. Mission
2. Situation Analysis
3. Objectives
4. Strategy
5. Evaluation

They survey their guests before leaving the hotel.

Employees are taught to do everything they can to

never lose a guest.

Staffs are trained to drop whatever they’re doing to help

a customer.

They empower employees to handle a problem right on

the spot without consulting higher –ups.

Each employee can spend up to $2,000 to redress a

guest grievance.
