Shining Stars

September 2023

It was nice to be back at school after a break. We loved seeing our old friends and new friends
Aidan, Aazim, Alinah, and Aathira . We warmly welcome and wish them a happy journey with
us at Shining Stars.

We celebrated World literacy day by having book day. All of us, including our aunties, dressed
up in characters from our favourite book. We acted out a small skit from the story we chose.

Aunty Par discussed the five senses with the First Years. Our eyes are like cameras that take
pictures of the world. Ears are like magic sound catchers. Our nose is the built-in sniffing
machine. Our tongue can tell us if something is sweet, salty, sour or bitter, whereas our skin is
like a cozy blanket that covers our whole body.
Aunty Nimali explained the season of winter with the Second Years. It's the coldest season of
year. Winter brings crisp, chilly air and blankets the landscape in a serene layer of glistening
snow. It's cozy to sit by the fireplace. Winter has short days and long nights. It's a time when
nature rests, trees shed their leaves, and many creatures hibernate to conserve their energy.
Despite the cold, winter also brings the joy of snowfall, winter sports, and the warmth of
holiday gatherings.
With the Third Years, Aunty Par explained about the 3 modes of transport. Transport means
moving people or things from one place to another. Aeroplanes and helicopters can fly high in
the sky, while boats and ships sail on water to transport goods and people. Trains run on
tracks, making them an efficient way to travel long distances, and cars offer personal mobility
for shorter trips.
Aunties made models charts and scrapbook work to make the topics more interesting .
