Phoolpur and the Good Fairy : Co-read the story

One day Bheem saw that Chhutki was a bit worried. Bheem asked her, “Why are you
worried?” Chhutki replied, “Mother’s Day is coming. I can’t think of any gift for my mother.”
Bheem said, “Maybe you can buy her flowers?” Chhutki was happy with that idea. She said,
“Yes, my mom loves flowers, but I don’t want to give her the usual flowers.”
Jaggu replied, “In that case, we can go to Phoolpur, the city of flowers. There are flowers
with different colors and patterns, polka dots, stripes, and even with checkered patterns!”
Chhutki said happily, “I will buy pink flowers, because my mom loves pink.” Everyone was
excited about the trip.
Next day, Raja Indravarma said to his friends, “Tomorrow is Indumati’s birthday and she
wants some special flowers from Phoolpur.” Bheem replied, “Sure! I will bring some special
flowers for her.”
They all headed to Phoolpur. On the way, Bheem saw huge and very dry lands of dried
flowers. When they reached the palace, they were welcomed by the king of Phoolpur. At
once, Bheem asked him, “Maharaja, why are the flower fields so dry?”
The king replied, “The queen of Phoolpur tried to pluck a special glowing flower that also
had a glow, and the Good Fairy was very angry about it. As you know, it is a bad habit to
pluck flowers, so the Good Fairy cursed the entire village with a drought spell.”
Bheem replied, “Then the queen should apologize to the Good Fairy.” The king replied, “She
has many times, but the Good Fairy is not forgiving her.” Bheem replied, “Then, I must go
with the queen and talk to her at once.”
Bheem, his friends, and the queen went to see the Good Fairy to apologize. When the queen
apologized to the Good Fairy, she refused. But when Bheem stepped forward, and said,
“Good Fairy, please lift the curse off the village. It was a mistake.” Since the Good Fairy
knew about Bheem’s good deeds, she agreed to lift the curse.
She said some magical chants and suddenly all of the flowers bloomed. She gave each child
a different colored flower pot; Bheem got red flowers, Chhutki got pink flowers, Raju got
blue flowers, Kalia got purple flowers, Dholu-Bholu got yellow flowers, and Jaggu got white
flowers. When they returned to the palace, the king was very happy and gave Chhutki a
bouquet of pink flowers to gift her mother! Everyone was happy at Dholakpur.
