C)
⚫ Create CSV file from the data available and save it as “‘SLWindPowerLand_21_23.csv’
Figure 40
⚫ Import “‘SLWindPowerLand_21_23.dataset's file into QGIS
Figure 41
⚫ Import the District shape file into QGIS. This will create a vector layer containing the
information about the districts' shapes.
Figure 42
⚫ Joining tables
Figure 43
3.1 Visualizing Information
⚫ In order to visualize we need to use the label menu. In order to find the label menu we have to
open the properties of the district and keep looking until we see the label menu
Figure 44
⚫ After that in order to visualize district name , Total land a query have to be used. Therefor by typing
“query” in the regarding information of a specific district can be displayed
Figure 45
Figure 46
⚫ Finally add the north arrow , map scale -graphic , map-scale numeric , map title and map legends
Figure 47
⚫ The map is named as Sri Lanka feasible lands for Wind Power. North arrow is displayed in the map
and a scale bar is also being displayed. The land for wind power related to each district is displayed
in different colors. It is being visualized in the legends.
D)
⚫ Create the CSV file from the data available and name it as “Land_for_solar_power csv”
Figure 48
Figure 49
⚫ Import the District shape file into QGIS. This will create a vector layer containing the
information about the districts' shapes.

4.1 Visualizing Information
⚫ In order to visualize we need to use the label menu. In order to find the label menu we have to
open the properties of the district and keep looking until we see the label menu
Figure 52
⚫ In order to visualize District name , Total area , Land for solar power total capacity and Land for
solar power total estimate energy a query must be used. Therefor by typing “query” the
information regarding a specific district can be displayed.
Figure 53
⚫ The query map will display accordingly
Figure 54
Figure 55
⚫ Finally add the north arrow , map scale -graphic , map-scale numeric , map title and map legends
Figure 56
⚫ The map is named as Land available for solar power. The land for solar power related to
each district is displayed in different colors. It is being visualized in the legends.a north
arrow is being added to the map. Finally a scale bar is also added
E)
⚫ Adding the Google earth image as a raster layer using the “Add Raster layer” option
Figure 57
⚫ Selecting Coordinate reference system. Layers >> Georeferance>> Raster layer and select
the Google image
Figure 58
⚫ Next we have to add the points from the added google image and run the google image so the
google image get inserted to the imported google earth image
Figure 59
⚫ Add the mentioned vector layers namely as solar power plants , buildings , roads , trees and forests
Figure 60
⚫ After that we have to select the mentioned vector layers to the image
Figure 61
⚫ New we have to add all the layers feature attributed to the google image from add polygon feature
Figure 62
⚫ This is the final output
Figure 63
Figure 64
⚫ Finally add the north arrow , map scale -graphic , map-scale numeric , map title and map legends
⚫ The map is named as Digitized Information area map. According to the map north arrow is
displayed and legend is being added. According to the legend Trees , forests , Solar power buildings
, solar energy plants and roads are pointed in the map with different colors. Finally the scale bar is
also being added.
F)
⚫ First of all we need to create a database namely as “SL_petrolium-2023” from PostgreSQL
Figure 65
⚫ Create the CSV file from the data available and save it as “SL_Petroleum data”
Figure 67
⚫ Import the “SL_petroleum data ”CSV data into the created database table
Figure 68
⚫ Add the database connection details to QGIS
Figure 69
⚫ Finally add the north arrow , map scale -graphic , map-scale numeric , map title and map legends
Figure 70
⚫ The map named as No of sheds , monthly mean Gasoline , monthly mean Diesel by district.
According to the map North arrow is located and mean of gasoline and mean o petroleum is
displayed from different colors in each district from legends and a scale bar is also added.
G)
⚫ Create the “SLD99 to WGS 84” XML file from the provided read me file . By getting the
information from getting the relevant information from the official website of the aforesaid
authority.
⚫ Import the KML file into QGIS. It shows the marked locations on the google earth
Figure 71
⚫ Styling the imported image
Figure 72
Figure 73
Figure 74
Figure 75
⚫ Final result after visualizing the image
Figure 76
⚫ Getting latitude and longitude marked on google earth. In order to do that go to KML file and open
the attribute table and add fields and calculate the fields
Figure 77
Figure 78
Figure 79
⚫ $y - latitude , $x - longitude
⚫ After that it will automatically mark the latitude and longitude which is marked in the google earth.
⚫ In order to visualize District name ,latitude and longitude a query must be used. Therefor by typing
“query” the information regarding a specific district can be displayed
Figure 80
⚫ Final output will display like this
Figure 81
⚫ The map is named as feasible locations for Renewable Energy Generations in the island identified
by Sri Lanka Sustainable Energy Authority. A north arrow is being displayed in the map. feasible
locations for Renewable Energy Generations in the island identified by Sri Lanka Sustainable Energy
Authority is displayed in different colors. It is being visualized in the legends. Finally, a scale bar is
also added
H)
⚫ Create a new project in QGIS
Figure 82
⚫ Add a new vector layer
⚫ Imported layers
Figure 83
⚫ Add changes to each attribute tables in the layers. And it will display on the map in yellow color
Figure 84
Figure 85
Figure 86
Figure 87
⚫ Change the necessary layer settings and It will display like this. Make sure to rename the buffer
layer according to the selected open attribute table
Figure 88
⚫ Do the same to every layer
