MICROALBUMIN (SPOT URINE)

Microalbumin, Spot Urine by Turbidimetry 0.51 mg/dl
Urinary Creatinine,, Spot Urine by Alkaline Picrate 91.78 mg/dl
Albumin / Creatinine Ratio, Spot Urine 5.55 mg/gm

Biological Reference Interval:-

Normal: <30 mg/gm.Creatinine

Microalbuminuria: 30 - 300 mg/gm.Creatinine
Clinical Albuminuria: >300 mg/gm.Creatinine

Remarks:-
The urinary albumin has been proved to be an excellent predictor of progression of overt nephropathy
in both insulin dependent and non insulin dependent diabetes. There are other potential causes of
micro-albuminuria besides incipient diabetic nephropathy.Consideration must be given to exercise,
poor diabetic control and non diabetic renal or systemic diseases, including hypertension.Urinary tract
infections and congestive heart disease are also possible causes of subclinical elevations in the
albumin excretion rate.

GLYCATED HAEMOGLOBIN (HbA1c)

Hemoglobin A1c (%), EDTA Blood by 5.0 %
Immunoturbidimetry
Remarks :-
Glucose combines with Hb continuously and nearly irreversibly during the lifespan of RBC i.e.120days. Therefore, glycosylated Hb
(GHb) will be proportional to mean plasma glucose level during previous 6-12 weeks. Factors such as duration of diabetes, adherence
to therapy and the age of patient should also be considered in assessing the degree of blood glucose control. These values are for
non-pregnant individuals.

Criteria for Diagnosis of Diabetes Mellitus

(2016 American Diabetes Association (ADA) Diabetes Guidelines)

HbA1c (%)
DEGREE OF GLUCOSE CONTROL
Non-Diabetic ≤ 5.6
Pre-Diabetic 5.7 – 6.4
Diabetic ≥ 6.5
