CIRCULAR
‘The DUGC/DPGC/DRPC of all the Departments are requested to ensure that academic standards
befitting an Institution of National Importance are maintained in evaluation of students in courses,

Course Instructors/Course Coordinators are reminded to submit the mid semester
examination question papers to the respective DUGC/DPGC/DRPC Chairperson (or
nominee) in timé for verifying the extent of coverage of course contents and expected course
outcomes, difficulty level of the question paper, total number of questions to be answered in
the available time, marks distribution etc. The DUGC/DPGC/DRPC Chairperson (or nominee)
can hand over the approved question papers to the respective Course Instructors/Course
Coordinators. Confidentiality must be ensured in the entire process.
Common mid and end semester question paper, common scheme of evaluation and grading
is to be adopted for any undergraduate/postgraduate course offered to more than one
section/department.
Any reference material needed for the examinations must be approved by the
DUGCI/DPGC/DRPC Chairperson (or nominee) and specified in the question paper. Such
reference material must be provided to all the students by the Course Instructor/Department.
The time allotted for the semester examination should be used exclusively for the
examination and other activities like quiz, course evaluation etc. must be avoided during this
time slot.
Assign sufficient number of invigilators for the examination rooms. Ensure that at least one
permanent faculty member is part of the invigilation team for each examination. The course
instructor must be available during the examination.
It would be advisable to evolve and use a common document template for preparation of the
question papers at the Department level.
