d. Application
Let the students apply addition and subtraction skills in a real-life scenario involving
money.

Materials Needed:
 Play money (coins and bills)
 Shopping list cards (with items and prices)
 Worksheets or activity sheets

Procedure:

1. Preparation:

 Create a set of shopping list cards with different items and their corresponding
prices. For example, "Apple - 25 pesos," "Toy - 50 pesos," "Book – 1 peso,"
etc.
 Prepare play money (coins and bills) in various denominations.

2. Introduction (10 minutes):

 Introduce the concept of a "Shopping Spree" to the students, explaining that

they will pretend to be shoppers and practice addition and subtraction with
money.
 Display the shopping list cards and briefly discuss the items and their prices.

3. Activity Proper: Shopping Spree (30 minutes):

 Distribute play money to each student.

 Explain that they will go on a shopping spree and choose items from the
shopping list cards.
 Students should calculate the total cost of the items they select using
addition, and subtract the amount they pay from their total money.
 Encourage students to use the play money to make the correct payment
and receive the correct change.
 Provide guidance and support as needed.

V. Evaluation
 After the activity, distribute worksheets or activity sheets containing addition and
subtraction problems.
 Count the circles. Write the total. Then, cross out circles according to the equation,
and write the difference.
