IV. PROCEDURES
A. Reviewing or ACTIVITY: REVIEW
presenting the new
lesson Note to the Teacher:
DAILY LESSON PLAN IN MATHEMATICS GRADE
10

 Divide the class into four groups.

 Provide each group with worksheets
 Out of the worksheets, let each groupanswer the given task in finding the
sum of the following:
Group 1 first ten terms of 3+6+9+…
(expected answer: 165)
Group 2first six multiples 9
(expected answer: 189)
Group 3: a1 = 1; n = 8; d=7
(expected answer: 204)
Group 4: integers from 2 to 19
(expected answer: 189)

Process all group outputs by letting them share their work with the other
groups.

B. Establishing a
purpose for the Answer the following questions:
lesson 1. How did you find the activity?
(expectedanswer: easy)
2.What did you use in finding its sum?
(expected answer:the rule)

Now, that you have already the concepts and knowledge how to find the sum of
the terms given some conditions in an arithmetic sequence, so, it’s time to go to
the next level by solving some problems.

C. Presenting ACTIVITY:
examples of the
new lesson Solving Problems on theSum of the Terms of an Arithmetic Sequence

Think – Pair – Share

1. The sum of the first ten terms of an arithmetic sequence is 530. What is
the first term if the last term is 80? What is the common difference?
(expected answer: a1 =26 : d = 6)

2. The third term of an arithmetic sequence is - 12 and the seventh term is

8. What is the sum of the first 10 terms?
(expected answer: 5)
Ask for a pair to present their work.

D. Discussing new The teacher allows a pair to discuss their technique on how they solve and how
concepts and they arrive at their answer.

skills #1

E. Discussing new In this lesson, you were provided with two problems to assess your
concepts and knowledge and skill in what you have learned in the previous lesson.
practicing new
skills #2 Now that you know the important ideas about arithmetic sequence, let us go
deeper by moving to the next level.
F. Developing Mastery ACTIVITY:
This time the teacher let the students go back to the original groupings, and let each
group solve this problem. The first group who will get it correctly will have plus 5
points.

Solve this problem:

1. In a potato race, the first and last potates are 5 m and 15 m away, respectively, from
the starting line and the rest are equally spaced 1 m away from each other. What is
the total distance travelled by a runner who brings them one at a time to the
finishing line?
(expected answer: 110 m)

(Have a group to present their work and process students’ responses by letting them
explain their work and how they do it. See to it that the rest of the groups got it also.)

G. Finding practical
applications of Give real life situation in which finding the sum of the terms of an arithmetic
concepts and skills sequence is applicable.

H. Making
Generalizations This time, let the students formulate steps on how to solve problems on the
and abstractions sum of the terms of an arithmetic sequence.
about the lesson

I. Evaluating learning Work by the same groupings:

Answer the following:
1. Anarithmeticsequence of 11 terms has a sum of – 44. Ifthelasttermis 11,
findthefirstterm and thecommondifference.
(expectedanswer: a1 = - 19; d = 3)

2. Fo a certainpartimejob, Pepe earns₱102.75 onthefirstday, ₱205.50

onthesecondday, ₱308.25 onthethirddayday and so on. Howmuchwill Pepe
earn in 2 weeks?
(expectedanswer:₱10 788.75)

J. Additional Solve the following:

Activities for 1. The seats in a theater are arranged so that there are 70 seats in the first row,
application or 72 seats in the 2nd row and so on for 30 rows altogether. how many seats in

remediation all are there in the theater?

2. (expected answer:2 970)
3. Once a month, a boy puts money into a cookie jar. During the first month
he has ₱10.50 and each month he adds an amount ₱0.50 more. How much
money had he put in the jar at the end of 4 years?
(expected answer:₱1 068)
