Beforeplanning,IworkedtogetherwithmymentorinordertomakeaschemeofworkthatIconsider
edwhileplanning.ShealsohelpedmetogetothernecessarymaterialswhichIusedasareference,su
chaspupil'sbook,teacherguideandsyllabus.
thefollowingareguidelinesthatIconsideredwhileplanning:
 Natureofthelesson:beforeplanningIconsideredonthenatureofthelessonwhichnotonlyh
elpedmetotakeadecisionifthelessonwillbetaughtinsidetheclassroomoroutsidetheclassroomb
utalsohelpedmetochoosethebestmethodsandtechniquestobeusedduringthelessondelivery.
 Availabilityoflearningmaterialslikemanilapapersanddidacticteachingaids:asIhavesai
dabove,itriedtomakeateachingandlearningaidswhichconsidertolearnerslearningstyleandlear
nerslearningdifficultieswhichgavealllearnersopportunitytoparticipateinthelessonactively.

 Inintroduction:Ipreferredtobeginalessonbygreetinglearnersinordertofeelwelcomedinthecla
ssroomenvironment.
 Iaskedlearnersquestionsaboutthepreviouslesson,thenafterIpresentteachingaidswhichhelpedl
earnersinthediscoverythelessongoingtobetaught.
 Inlessondevelopment:Iusedtousedifferentmethodsandtechniquesreferringtothenatureofthel
essonandlearnersexperiences.
ThefollowingaresomemethodsandtechniquesthatIhaveusedduringthelessondevelopme

requisiteknowledgeinordertofacilitatethemtoimprovetheircriticalthinkingskills.

requisiteknowledgeoflearnersandtoevaluateifalllearnersareactivelyengagedinthelesson

 Inlessonevaluation:Iusedtoaskdifferentquestionsaboutnewlessonandtocorrectexerci
sesgiventothelearnersattheendofthelesson
ThefollowingareproblemsIencounteredwhileIwasteaching.
 Insufficientlearnersbook:thebookswhichreferstocompetencebasedcurriculumwerefe
wcomparedtothenumberoflearners.
 Learnerscommunication:MylearnershadcultureofusingonlyKinyarwandaatschool,so,
theyusedtospeakKinyarwandawhileI'mteachingEnglishwhichmadeusHardertocommunicate
.
LessonsthatIperfectlydeliveredwassubject:English,topic:Describingfriendphysicalappea
ranceandTalkingaboutpopulation.
TwolessonsthatIthinkIdidnotdeliverwellwasdescribingfriend’spersonalitiesandtellingsto
riesbecauseattheendofthoselessonsalllearnerswerenotcapableofnarratingastoryperfectlyasI
wishitcouldbeandIhadaproblemofcomplicatedvocabulariestolearnersduringdescribingtheir
friendspersonalitieswhichwashardforlearnerstounderstandalsohardenstheirunderstandingo
fthattopic.
2.2.EXTRACURRICULARACTIVITIES
Extracurricularactivities:asweknowthatextra-
curricularactivitiesarethoseactivitiesthatteacherperformsoutofteaching,thefollowingaresom

eextra-curricularactivitiesIhaveperformedduringmyinternship.
 Ihadbeenaskedtobetheoneofplayersoftheschoolvolleyballteamwhichplayedfriendlyg
amewehaveplayedwithsecondary,Ourschoolteamwasrankedasthefirstteamafterourvictoryag
ainstsecondary.
 Iwaschosenamongschoolteacherstohelpinthoseactivitiescarriedconcerningschoolfee
dingastheprogramthatwasnewlyestablished.
 Iwasaskedtohelptheschoolstafftoputintosystemlearnersidentifications(SDMS)
 Schoolbasedumuganda:Ihaveattendedschoolbasedumugandawhichhappenedon13thN
ovember2021forpurposeofincreasingschoolgardensbyplantingthetreesforbetterschoolphysi
calfeatures.
 IattendedSGAmeetingsasaprospectiveteacherandItoreroonWednesdayswhichhelped
metogainknowledgeandRwandanculturalvaluesinadditionskillsconcerningeducationalprofe
ssionalism.

3.THEPROBLEMSENCOUNTEREDANDSOLUTIONS
3.1.Problemsandsolutionsrelatedtoteachingandlearningevents
someoftheproblemsanddifficultiesrelatedtoteachingandlearningprocessthatIencountereddur
ingmyinternshipatGSBUJYUJYUwereasfollows:
 Learnerscommunicationskills:thelearnersweregoodatKinyarwanda,soittookmemu
chtimetoteachthemEnglishbecauseIhadtomakesurethattheyarespeakingonlyKinyarwandaini
tsperiod.
 Insufficientlearner'sbooks:Thecompetencebasedcurriculumbookswerefewcompar
edtothenumberoflearnersintheclass.
 Schoollocation:Duetothelocationoftheschooltherewasaprobleminclasssetting,when
wehadtostudyoutsidetheclassroomwecouldn'tdoitbecauselearnerscouldhavebeenabsent-
mindbecauseofsomevehiclescrossingtheroadneartheschool.
 Insufficienttimeforobservation:becausemymentorwaschange,Ididn’thaveenoughti
meforobservation,itwasnoteasyformeforbetterlessondeliveryinmyfirstdays.

 LowlevelsofEnglishlanguageskills:learnerswerenotgoodatEnglishbecausetheydidn
otcomprehendthelessonsdeliveredsomanytimesnotthebecausethemethodsandtechniquesuse
dbutbecauseitishowtheywere.
 Itwasdifficulttomanagesomeclassrooms(classroommanagementissues):becauseofsomei
ndisciplinestudentswhodisobeyedmeanddisturbmyclassroomsetup.
ThefollowingweresomesolutionsthatIemployedtosolvetheaboveproblemsanddifficultie
sIfaced
 IintroducedthemethodofutilizationofEnglishandvocabulariesonlyKinyarwandawher
enecessaryforbettermanagementandalsobetterlessondelivery.
 IdidresearchandfindingmorematerialslikebooksbytheuseofREBResourcesonlineand
someprintmaterials.
 RegardingtheschoollocationIpreferredmostlydeliveringlessonsinsidetheclassroomso
astomanagetheclassratherthanoutsidebecausemanyvehiclescrossingneartheschool.
 Itwasnoteasytodeliverthelessonforthefirstday,butasafutureprofessionalteacherIemployedvar
iousactiveteachingmethodsandtechniquesforbetterunderstandingofconceptsbeingtaught.
 BecausetherewasaproblemofEnglishlanguageIdecidedtoplantimeinweekendsinadditionorga
nizingmylearnersandteachingthemessentialconceptsthattheyhaveneverstudied,thosemeasur
eshelpedmebeinginacuewithlearners,comprehensionoflessonbeingtaughtandevenformynext
planning.
 Sometimesmentorsusedtointervenewhiledeliveringmylessontohelpmetodealwithclassroom
managementissuessuchasfightinginclassoranyotherpupil’sproblems.
3.2.Problemsrelatedtotheschooladministrationandmanagement
SomeoftheproblemsanddifficultiesrelatedtoschooladministrationandmanagementthatIencou
nteredduringmyinternshipatGSBUJYUJYUwereasfollows:
 Itwashardtogetsomematerialstomaketeachingaidslikemanilapapersandmarkersbecau
setheyusednottogivethemtous,becausetheyhavebudgeteditfortheirpermanentteachers.
 Theschoolauthoritieswerehardilyreachabletorequestsomematerialsandcompetenceba
sedbooksandevensyllabus.

 Problemsoffewdesksintheclass:itwasnoteasytoteachlearnerswhositinfivetoonedesk.s
o,thishardenedmewithingroupmaking.
 Therewasnodocumentstobeused,itcostedmetobuyalldocumentsduringmyinternshipa
ctivities.
 Therewasaproblemofbeingblamedtoslowertheprogramwhichdiscouragedmeinmyint
ernshipactivities.
 Lownumberofteachers:IspentallofmytimeteachingEnglishin4classroomsbecausetherewas1t
eacherofEnglish,ithardenedmebecauseIhadtoteachthoseclassroomsasaprofessionalonedespi
teIwasininternship.
ThefollowingweresomeofthesolutionsIemployedtosolvetheaboveproblemsanddifficultiesth
atIfaced:
 Imyselfboughtsacksandothermaterialstomaketeachingaidswhichhelpedmetoachieve
myobjectives.
 Iusedtoworkwithmymentorsinordertohelpmegetsomeresourcesbecauseshehadaccess
onit
 Iemployednewsittingarrangementwhichallowsalllearnerstoparticipateactivelyandall
owthemtositinplacesthatarecomfortableforthem.
 IdecidedtobuypedagogicaldocumentsthataprofessionalteacherhastohavebecauseIhad
nochoiceregardingschoolbudget,becausetheytoldmethatthereisnobudgettheyleftfortheintern
shipactivities.
 Iusedtoseeksomeadvicesfromotherteacherswhowereexperiencedthesameproblemand
keepmestrong.
 ThebestwayIusedtoovercomemanyhoursspentwhileteachingasaprofessionaloneisper
sistencebecauseIremainedwithnochoiceandmentorhadothersubjectstoteachandtherewasonly
measanEnglishteacher.
4.Overallevaluationofinternshipexercises.
InterningatGSBUJYUJYUwasgreatopportunityformetolearnreal-
worldteachingexperience.

 Ilearnthowtomakemyownlearningmaterialswithoutdependingonschoolmaterials.
 IlearnthowtosolvetheproblemsthatIfacedduringmyinternshiptherelikedisciplinecases
.
 Ilearnthowtomasterthecontentbeforeteachingforbetterlessondelivery.
 Ilearnthowtofillteacher'sprofessionaldocumentssuchasattendancelist,schemeofwork,
marksrecord,lessonplanandclassdiary.
 Ilearnthowtouseappropriateteachingmethodsandtechniques.
 Ilearnthowtocontrolclassroommanagementduringteachingprocessandprovidingsimp
lepunishments.
 Ilearnthowtointerrelatecross-
cuttingissuesandgenericcompetenceseffectivelyinthelessonregardingthenatureofthelesson.
 Allinall,Ilearnthowtopreparelessonsandmasteritandthewayitwillbedelivered.
ThisinternshipwillbenefitmebecauseitbroughtmemoreexperiencesabouttheproblemsImayen
counterinfutureandthewaytosolvethemallanditguidedmetowardsthewaytointeractwithothert
eachers.
Thisinternshipwillalsobenefitmebecauseit'smylonglifelearningbridgethatwillalwayshelpmet
oadaptinteachingprocessandelsewhereI’llgo.
Therefore,thisinternshipwasgoodinallaspectsevenifitwasnotperfectatallregardingsomediffic
ultiesImetwith,mentoringwentwellandIhopethatsupervisionalsowasgood,Ireallyappreciatei
nternshiporganization.

5.RECOMMENDATIONS
5.1.Advicefornextyear'sinternshipstudent-teachers
InowrealizethatdoinganinternshipandteachingatGSBUJYUJYUisn’teasy,so,Iwouldliketom
akesomesuggestionsandrecommendationstonextyear’sinternshipstudents.thesearefollows.
 Thestudent-

teachershouldreadandknowaboutrules,politicsandeternalregulationsoftheschoolbeforetheys
tartinternship.
 Theymustknowthewaytobehaveinfrontofanyoneatschool.
 Theyhavetoknowwhatareadvantagesanddisadvantagesincludedthereinordertoavoidt
omeetcertainproblemsandfaults.
 Showcooperationskillsastobesociablewithotherteachersduringdifferentassociationsli
keteachersmeetingandotheractivitiescanbegood
 Beingrespectful,thismeansthattobewhereyouaresupposedtobeanddoingwhatyouares
upposedtodoandalsodoingotherworksthatarenotsupposedtodoifpossible
5.2Recommendationsfortheinternshipprogram
ThefollowingaresomeofmyopinionsabouttheinternshipprogramsandhowIthinktheprogramc
anbeimproved.
 Ithinkthestudentsshouldbegivenmoretrainingaboutinternshipexercisebeforetheyares
entattheinternshipschools.
 Iguessheadteachersandmentorsshouldbegiveninstructionstobeconsideredbecauseso
metimestherearesomeschoolsuseinternsasnewteacherswithoutguidingthemorgivingthemco
mmentsaboutwhatisgoodorwronginordertoimprovetheirteaching.
 Theinternshiporganizationshouldgiveinternssomemoneytobeusedininternshipduetot
hatinternusesmuchmoneyforbuyingteacherprofessionaldocumentseventeachingaids.theythe
mselvesbuy,printandcoverinternshipreportwhiletheydon'tgetanytypeofincome.
 Theinternshiporganizationshouldgivesomemoneytointernsnotassalarybutastothankth
embecauseinternshelpthemsomuch.
5.3RecommendationsforGSBUJYUJYU
 Theyshouldn’thavetotakeaninternsasnewteachersbecauseIacted100%despitedoing60%ofpr
ofessionalteacherasweweresupposedto.
 Theschoolmustremindteachersnottostigmatizetheinterneesandalsoteachershouldstopthinkin
gunprofessionalthatinterneesslowertheprogramasIhavemetwithsuchkindofteacher.
 Theyhavetosolveproblemsofinsufficientbooksandclassroomsbefore,forpurposeofimproving

bettercommunicationamonglearnersandteacher.

Conclusion
Allinall,IconcludemyinternshipreportbysayingthatduringteachingpracticeperiodIhavecreate
dthenewteachingaidswhichmadeallstaffofGSBUJYUJYUsurprised.Ihavedonetheminempty
sucks,afterlookingatmyteachingmaterialsheadmistresstoldallteacherstoremoveolderteachin
gaidsinordertomakenewandgoodteachingaidslikemine.
