Details of Navagraha Sthalas

Ketu at Keezperumpallam
Ketu Bhagwan - Located at Keezperumpallam 20 kms. From Sirkazi is a temple for Naganathaswamy where a separate Sannidhi for Ketu is worshipped facing West.

Evil effects of Ketu will create obstacles in ones endeavours, enemy and ill health whereas Good effects will improve financial position, good health, mental peace and happiness. Worshipping and fasting on Tuesday considered auspicious will relieve the ill effects to a great extent when one could take sweet potatoes and fruit juices and avoid salt and spices. Timings: 0600 hrs. To 1300 hrs and 1600 hrs. 2000 hrs.

Rahu at Thirunageswaran
Rahu Bhagwan - Located in Thirunageswaran - 5kms. from Kumbakonam where the deity of the Nagabatheswarar and the Goddess is Piraiyani Valunuthal Ammai. Temple faces the East having Gopurams and three corridors with Gopurams having Five Tiers. As one enters, one can have darshanam of Nirutha Ganapathy, Nandi and Vinayakar.

In the outer Corridor at the Southern corner, Rahu Bhagwan accompanied by his two Devis is found. Adverse effects of Rahu will be, such as, misunderstanding among relations and loss of money, illness and unnecessary medical expenditure.

By worshipping Rahu we may get favourable effect such as improvement in financial position, increase in comforts, and disappearance of bad habits but development of good ones.

Rahu may be worshipped on any day and it will reduce the ill effects considerably.

Saneeswarar (Saturn) at Tirunallar


Saneeswarar Bhagwan - Located at Tirunallar, 45 kms. From Kumbakonam one of the seven famous Vidangar Temples where the presiding Deity is Sri Dharparanyeshwarar is worshipped. This temple is well known and famous for Sri Saneeswarar Bhagwan for whom a separate sanctum is provided and as you enter the northern side Gopurams, the Sani Bhagwans Sannidhi is there precisely on the right and faces East.

In the Corridors of the temple, we will come across the idol of 63 Saivite Saints (Nayanmars), Siva Lingams, Ambal, Sri Dakshinamurthy Swami, Swarna Vinayakar, Skandar, Saptha Vidanga Shiva Lingams, Subramaniya Swamy accompanied by his consorts Valli and Daivayanai, Naka Narayanar, Durgai, Chandikesar, Bhairavar Natarjaar, Suryadeva and others.

The temple has many holy tanks with the prominent and known ones is Nala Theertham considered most sacred located in the Northwestern side. King Nala took bath in this Tank and got rid of adverse and evil effects - . A bath or sprinkling of the water from the tank over the head with total devotion will help one to get rid of adverse inflictions of evils which will vanish and so will sorrow.

Saturdays the most appropriate day for worshipping Sri Sani Bhagwan - he should be decorated with black cloth, those who are afflicted Saturn in their horoscope should wear Blue precious stones. Every Saturday one should burn sesame lamp, and this will help reduce adverse effects to a great extent. Favourable effect of Sani Bhagwan will result in many fortunes and benefits like good health, success in all endeavours, peace of mind, proper respect from members of family and relations, prosperity, interest and enthusiasm in life.

Shukran (Venus)

at Kanjanoor

Shukra Bhagwan Located at Kanjanoor the holy abode for Sukra Bhagwan in Thanjavur District a 2 kms. Run from Suryanarkoil near Aduthurai where the presiding deity is Sri Agnipuriswarar. Those who worship Venus will be bestowed with happy marriage and prosperity and showered with blessings such as health, happiness, comfortable life and wealth. The ill effect of Shukra Dasa may lead to betrayal by women and one may suffer from Venereal diseases. By worshipping Venus one can obtain propitiation from Shukra Dasha (adverse effect) and get rid of evil effects in one life Venus has to be worshipped on Fridays. She loves to be decorated with white clothes. Those who have a weak Venus in their chart or born on the 6th or any number that add upto to 6 should wear a diamond ring. Guru (Jupiter)

at Alangudi

Guru Bhagwan - Alangudi is the place where Guru is worshipped as Sri Dakshinamurthy. Lord Shiva as Abath Sahayar and Goddess Parvathi known as Aelavarkuzhali, are the main deities here.

When one visit Guru they should offer 24 ghee or oil lamps available for sale at the temple and after offering the lamps one should walk 24 times around time. He is the Guru of the Devas and with Gurus grace; even an illiterate person can become a great scholar. The good effect of the Guru comes in the form of success in life, prosperity and good events like marriages.

Guru is the prime benevolent planet among Nine Planets Thursday is the auspicious day for worshipping Guru Bhagwan. Wearing yellow clothes, giving away yellow clothes as charity, observing fast on Thursdays are the proper ways of worshipping Guru, for propitiation and getting relief from

Budhan (Mercury)

at Thiruvenkadu

Budhan Bhagwan - Among the nine planets Budhan Bhagwan worshipped in Thiruvenkadu temple will give bliss. Mercury protects Shiva Bakthas and literary persons. He is green in complexion, soft in nature bestowing the devotees with knowledge in Astrology, Sculpture, and Medical treatment of Paralysis. He also grants power of expression and success in education, literary pursuits, fame in fine arts, and profession and good relations with scholars. Wednesday is the auspicious day to worship him offering green colour items and he likes white kanthal.

Evil effects of Mercury are usually failure in business, set back in profession, lack of mental calibre, and transfer from native place, getting caught in quarrels.

Mangaeaga Bhagwan (Sevvai) -Mars

at Vaideeswarankoil

Mangaeaga Bhagwan (Sevvai) - Mars faces the south and Lord Dhandayuthapani who is in the east facing Mars. Showers on his devotees benefits such as good harvest in the fields, good income, good health and saves his devotees from sufferings. He enhances the respectability and dignity of those who worship him. He also keeps his devotees to come out of financial indebtnedness. Worshipped on Tuesdays by offering Red Flowers, Salt and Pepper.

Chandra Bhagwan (Moon)

at Thingaloor

Chandra Bhagwan Thingaloor is one of the Saivite holy places Thingal meaning Moon and only southern end is used. On the left of the temple Lord Kailashnath and in the opposite side Goddess Periyanayaki. Around the outer corridor we can have darshanam of Lord Dakshinamurthy and in the eastern side is Chandra Bhagwan.

Moon is one of the benevolent planets among the nine planets. Lord Shiva has three eyes and moon is considered the left eye of the Lord. Moon is known for her soft nature and is an integral part of Goddess Parasakthi. Monday is the main day of prayer for her. The adverse effect of Moon manifests them in loss of mental peace. Ill health, possibility of loss of life in water, fear, etc. By worshipping Moon, we can get relief from these adverse effects. Those who worship Moon are blessed with her favourable effect such as wealth, good health, and Mothers welfare, auspicious events in the family. Timings: 0700 to 2000 hrs.

Surya Bhagwan (Sun)

at Suryanarkoil

Surya Bhagwan - This temple is close to Aduthurai and 15 kms. From Kumbakonam and also a Kali Amman Temple that should be visited. Suryanar (Sun) temple tower is 15.5 meter high having three tiers with Five Kalasams at the top. Outside the Rajagopuram (main tower) in the north side there is a holy tank called Surya Pushkarni where one should take bath else at least sprinkle water on the head. As you enter the temple on the right side there is the Theertha Vinayakar (Ganesh) Sannidhi and in the northern corridor one will find Thejeas Chandikeswara Sannidhi.

In the temple Surya Bhagwan is positioned facing west, accompanied on both sides by his consorts Usha and Chayadevi. After Surya Bhagwan one should go to Sabanayakar Mandapam and offer prayers

to Lord Nataraja, the Navagraha, and at Sthabana Mandapam worship Sri Kasi Viswanathar and Sri Visalakshmi Ammai.
