JD For Embedded Systems Engineer
The Company
Morphle Labs is a YC-funded startup by IIT alumni building Medical Devices for cancer
diagnostics. We are a team of 50+ highly-energetic folks based out of Bangalore.
We have achieved high revenue growth so far across India (market leader) + USA & a sparse
customer base across Europe, Southeast Asia & Middle east.
We have generated a large IP portfolio & an amazing engineering culture as a byproduct owing
to the strong technical leadership & amazing folks who joined hands during the journey.
Our Products
We design, manufacture & sell products that are highly scientific in nature.
Our products Morpholens & Hemolens offer fully digital diagnostics workflows for cancer
biopsies & blood-related disorders across all geographies. Our products are unique inventions
across physics, robotics, computer vision & software workflows specifically designed for Doctors
/ Labs & Hospitals across the globe.
In a nutshell, we are building a robotics enabled digital diagnostics platform for Pathologists,
Medical Institutions & Cancer Research Centers.
It is imperative to exercise deep levels of user empathy in order to un-solve the obvious. A little
explainer on that - It is only by understanding the core needs of the user, can designers propose
solutions that are based on first principle physics, rather than complex engineered designs that jump
through a lot of hoops to achieve the same goal. Engineers start with a blank slate where the entire team
goes through cycles of divergent and convergent thinking during brainstorming, in order to narrow down
the novel solutions that are fundamentally better in terms of reliability, performance and cost and
ultimately achieve the end goal.
Embedded system design is not a trivial plug and play process. It involves a meticulous understanding of
the core requirements and deriving solutions that fit within a scalable architecture. An understanding of
how hardware interacts with software is built and the merits of interdisciplinary solutions are debated.
This allows for solutions where hardware and software development go-in sync. An agile cycle of Risk
Analysis and Mitigation, Prototyping and Validation, Manufacturability and Quality Control are key to
prosper in the medical device industry. It is a fine balance of high execution speed, reliable design and
scalable architecture.
Additionally, we like our engineers to go the extra mile and design systems such that each machine we
ship has auto-calibration or remote debugging at least, fully baked in. Yes you read that right, “Remote
Hardware Debugging in Medical Devices”, welcome to the future.
Ideal Candidate
Loves tinkering with embedded systems and is up to speed with the recent developments in the
field
Is an embedded system generalist - Firmware, Hardware and everything in between. From Motor
Control to Advanced Camera Interfacing, control loops for thermoelectrics and electromagnets,
pump control and novel sensing strategies, we do it all.
Unhinged creative thinking, can leave behind biases to attack the core of the problem directly
Can absorb hundreds of pages of datasheets, application notes, community support notes and
nail the requirements to select the most appropriate component and how to use it
Scientific Thinking Mindset - Enjoys thorough research, can hypothesize in the blue sky, design
experiments that are grounded in reality and collect evidence to prove/disprove the viability,
FAST.
