METHOD STATEMENT

1-scope
The scope of this method statement covers the Damp proofing
for foundation.
2-Purpose:
Purpose of this method is to address the requirement of ECP-
203- 2007, including the inspection, fabrication order to verify
compliance to the code and the required project specifications
for concrete water proofing.
3- DEFINITION:
3.1 MS: METHOD STATEMENT
3.2 ECP: EGYPTION CODE FOR PRACTICE.
3.3 ITP: INSPECTION AND TEST PLAN.
3.4 QR. QUALITY RECORD.
4-RESPONSIBILITIES:
4.1 project manager:
Shall be responsible for the overall implementation.
4.2 Quality manager: shall be coordinates with technical
manager for materials suitable time approval and available,
commitment to the project time schedule, receive the work from
the site engineer by the Q.C engineer to submit it to the
consultant, and attending the concrete pours and acceleration the
critical areas for the best time schedule.
4.3 The Construction Manager In-Charge Shall Be
Responsible for The Work Procedure to ensure the construction
is carried out as per project specification. he shall see that work
is ready for inspection and prepare inspection request. he shall
inform all parties concerned for any kind of inspection or test
for time schedule.
4.4 Technical office manager.
Technical and engineering documents management, and getting
the approval for the all-shop drawings, RFI, RFP, BBS and all
approval for all the technical documents.
4.5 The site engineer:
he shall be responsible for implementing the required work
procedures report any deficiencies to the construction manager,
prepare the work for inspection by addressing the quality control
remarks, and attending the concrete pours.
4.6 Surveyors:
Shall be responsible for all work levels and the coordinates of
all the elements as per approved shop drawings and time
schedule and the work requirements.
5-References:
5.1 project's specification.
5.2 Approved project's shop drawings.
5.3 ECP 203-2007.
5.4 Approved Materials, Technical Data sheet.
5.5 Project's B.O.Q.
6-Equipment:
6.1 brush or roller and squeegee.
6.2 blower to removing the dust/sand to clean the concrete.
6.3 hammer to remove any cement spot residues.
6.4Hot air generator or propane torch.
6.5Manpower: 2Technicl worker, 2 helpers.
7-Materials:
7.1 TECHNOBIT PRIMER WB TS3
7.2 SBS Bitumen Membrane (Quartz).
7.3Fresh Clear water.
7.4Screed concrete or Fine Sand Quartz-S/E or Mineral Slate.
8-Procedure:
8.1 Surface Preparation:
8.1.1 The concrete surface must be free from dirt, debris, and
scale.
8.1.2 Defective concrete spots and honey comps must be repair
by approved material prior to commencement of water proofing
works.
8.1.3 the surface must be saturated with water.
8.1.4 IR to be raised to consultant engineer for preparations
inspection.
8.2 Application of Priming coat (TECHNOBIT PRIMER
WB TS3):
8.2.1 The coat applied as per manufacture recommendations
(T.D.S) and as per consultant engineer instructions.
8.2.2The priming coat can be diluted up to 1:1 in fresh clear
water
8.2.3Allow 2 to 4 hours for drying before applying the
membrane.
8.3 Application of membranes:
8.3.1After 2-4 hours
8.3.2By using a propane torch or a hot air generator by
mechanical fastening or by special adhesives in cold or hot
applications.
8.3.3Quartz HD25 can be applied to the substrate fully bonded,
semi bonded or loose laid and the method of adhesion to the
substrate shall be decided according to the waterproofing system
design.
8.3.4Side laps should be from 8-10 cm, while end laps should be
from 12-15 cm.
8.3.5Storage& Handling: Quartz HD25 rolls should be kept in
an upright position in flat, properly ventilated and sheltered
storage area.
8.3.6Laying the screed concrete as protective layer.
8.3.7 IR to be raised to consultant engineer for first coat
inspection.
9-SAFETY:
9.1 Ensure safe working environment.
9.2 Safety instructions to be given by the HSE supervisor.
9.3 Hardhats, safety shoes, long pants, visibility vests, long
sleeve shirts to be worn.
9.4 Ensure trained workmen use masks and gloves
9.5 Ensure that any skin splashes from any materials to be
removed with hand cleaner, soap and water.
9.6 All employees shall be informed as to the necessity for
protective clothing particularly when carrying potentially
dangerous operations (i.e., welding).
9.7 Materials shall be stored so as not to be considered a hazard
i.e.
9.8 Cranes, hoists and other plant items shall be well maintained
and operators trained in their use. No personnel will be
permitted to ride on loads or use the equipment in a manner
which could be constructed as dangerous (i.e., passengers).
9.9 Scaffolding shall have all adequate working boards

9.91 Scaffolding shall be wide enough to allow employees to
walk safely and shall be provided with handrails fixed properly
to the scaffolding.

9.92 Ladders shall be secure at a permitted inclination.

9.94 Emergency exit paths shall be maintained clear of all
obstruction.
