THE ART OF AUTHENTIC VIRTUAL STUDENT

ENGAGEMENT

Speaker: Karl Kervin M. Sapungan

1. What are the key concepts that you have learned in this session?
We are facing 21st-century learners where students are more engaged in visuals or they learn more by
presenting videos and one platform we can use is Edpuzzle. Edpuzzle is an educational technology
platform that allows teachers to create interactive video lessons for their students. It can be used in K-12
education and provides a way for educators to engage students with video content while also assessing their
understanding and progress. Edpuzzle is a useful tool for flipping classrooms, remote learning, and in-class
instruction, as it helps educators make the most of video content while ensuring that students actively
engage with the material. It promotes a blended learning approach and offers a way to make videos more
interactive and educational.

2. How can you integrate this in teaching and in the field of education?

Teachers can upload videos or use existing online videos from platforms like YouTube, and more.
Edpuzzle allows you to customize these videos by adding their own voiceovers, audio notes, and questions.
Educators can insert questions, quizzes, and comments at specific points in the video. This encourages
active learning and ensures that students are paying attention to the material. Students access the videos
and interactive lessons through the Edpuzzle platform. They can watch the video and answer questions as
they progress, providing immediate feedback on their understanding. Edpuzzle provides teachers with data
on how students are performing, including which parts of the video they engaged with most and their
answers to the embedded questions. This data can help teachers tailor their instruction to meet students'
needs. Teachers can use Edpuzzle to assess student comprehension, as the platform grades the embedded
questions and provide insights into each student's progress.

3. Make a summary of the session either in paragraph or bullet form.

 21st Century Learners are visual learners who love YouTube
 “Edpuzzle is the best thing since sliced bread.”
 Edpuzzle can let the students watch the video at their own pace, you hold the students accountable:
see who’s watching and who answers the questions. They won’t be able to skip ahead or open other
tabs and Get 100% student participation.
 Edpuzzle is internet-based we can use it in class, for homework, and review in classic or in the live
mode where we can share (Use ready-made lessons from other teachers), YouTube (Search for any
YouTube video and copy it to your content), and Upload (Record and upload your own teaching
videos).
 Teacher can insert questions, quizzes, and comments at specific points in the video. This
encourages active learning and ensures that students are paying attention to the material.
 Edpuzzle provides teachers with data on how students are performing, including which parts of the
video they engaged with most and their answers to the embedded questions. This data can help
teachers tailor their instruction to meet students' needs.
 Edpuzzle can be used on the internet but we can also use LUMI, not an internet-based platform.
