MULTIPLYING A POLYNOMIAL BY A
MONOMIAL
To multiply a polynomial by a monomial, use the distributive law and
apply commutative, associative, and the laws of exponent.

ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLE #2
Multiply:

1. 3𝑥 + 5 𝑥 − 4
2. 3𝑥 − 5 𝑥 + 4
3. 2𝑥 − 3 4𝑥 − 5
4. 𝑥+4 𝑥+3

10
MULTIPLYING POLYNOMIALS
Remember that no matter how many terms there are in the
polynomials, the process is to multiply every term in the second
polynomial by every term in the first polynomial.

Basically, we can still use the distributive property.
