1.0 OBJECTIVE

5.0 REPONSIBILITY
5.5 QA/QC Manager Responsible for reviewing the work procedures, inspection records and performing
related inspection in accordance with the inspection and test plan (ITP) related to the tank hydrostatic
test.
Responsible for implementation of the tank hydrostatic works in accordance with applicable specifications
6.0 PROCEDURE
The hydrostatic test shall be performed in accordance with API 650 Para.7.3.6.
6.1.1 This specification covers the filling, settlement measurement and testing procedure of water storage tank
for ABHA PHASE II Water Transmission System.

6.1.3 The hydrostatic test shall be performed in accordance with API 650 Para.7.3.6
6.1.5 Before any external piping connected to the tank,the tank shall be filled with water and

6.2.1 While water filling or draining is performed, nozzles and manholes on the tank roof shall be
kept opened to avoid the destruction of the tank roof due to an excessive breating load
6.3.2 The shell fittings and lower piping are to be checked for leaks and signs of distress, if any
leaks appear, water is to be lowered to about 300mm below the leak, make repairs and
retest

6.3.2 The shell fittings and lower piping are to be checked for leaks and signs of distress, if any
leaks appear, water is to be lowered to about 300mm below the leak, make repairs and
retest
6.3.3 During the water test, the foundation settlement shall be checked at 6 hours intervals and
the record shall be submitted to client for information
6.3.4 The settlement shall be measured at every 10 meter of the circumferential length of the
shell bottom course with the minimum of 4 points.
6.3.6 Water filling shall be stopped at the intervals listed below , Filling shall be halted during
these periods for 2 hours and settlements taken
6.4.1 Roof manholes and fittings are to be opened so as to have as large an area as the tank outlet.
6.5.1 The lebel of the tank foundation shall be taken once after water dicharge and sttlement
6.5.2 After the water filling test, any standing water, or other dirt left in the tank shall be cleaned out so
that the tank interior is broom clean and read for use.
6.5.3 Before, during and after filling the tank with water, check the elevations around the bottom
and imrnediately report any differential of excessive settlement to the Client, All elevations
should be reference to a temporary retrievable bench mark
6.5.4 If tank is anchored, retighten anchor bolts, Inspect the shell, including fittings and lower piping for

leaks and signs of distress, If any leaks appear, lower the water lebel about 300mm below the leak,
make repairs and retest, If any distress is found, open the roof manhole and/or other roof fittings
and immediately start to drain all water form the tank.
6.5.5 Hold the height of test water until the inspector is satisfied
6.5.6 Open roof manhole and/or other roof fittings having as large an area as the water outlet, and drain
all water from the tank.
