Literacy Writing

We will be reading books that go along with our
theme and focus on the essential questions:
How can I relate to the character in a book?
In our literacy centers we are reading books at
our academic level with a focus of 1:1 word
correspondence and a match of words when
tracking.
Sight Words: he, she (play, as, we, am, us,
will, you, at, was, it, can, see, is, to, like, the,
my, can)
With assistance, students will write the
beginning sounds they hear in a word. We are
doing many activities sounding out CVC words.
Cat, hat, dog, bed, kid, cut are examples of
consonant, vowel, consonant words.
We will review bubble maps, a tool to help them
learn to keep track of their thinking and ideas.
They will also start thinking about one idea they
would like to write about and learn how to
create a rough draft.

In phonics we will review the sound of letters

and CVC words. We are introducing digraphs
(sh, ch, wh, th).

Math Theme- Feelings and New Beginnings

We will begin our unit on Comparison of

Length, Weight, Capacity, and Numbers
to 10. We will start comparing lengths using We will review our classroom expectations and
shorter than and taller than. discuss our learning goals for the new year.
We will also talk about feelings and how to
Vocabulary: problem solve with our friends.

Endpoints, Compare, Length, Height
