What is Art?
Art is derived from the Latin word “ars” which means ability or skill. It
covers areas of artistic creativity that seek to communicate beauty mainly through the
senses. Art is a highly diverse range of human activities involved in the creation of
artworks, visual, auditory, or artifacts that expresses the artist’s ingenious or technical
skill. Art is meant to be appreciated for their beauty or emotional influence.

Contemporary art mirrors contemporary culture and society, offering the general
audiences a rich resource through which to consider current ideas and rethink
the familiar.
The work of contemporary artists is a dynamic combination of materials,
methods, concepts, and subjects that challenges traditional boundaries and
defies easy definition.
Diverse and eclectic, contemporary art is distinguished by the very lack of a
uniform organizing principle, ideology, or - ism.
Choose one particular history of Arts from above that struck you most. Then, create
a poster to promote it. It can be on long bond paper or you can digitally make the
poster with a computer. Explain your concept either by writing on a different sheet
of bond paper or through a video. Be creative! (20 points)
