1. LIST OF ERROR DISPLAY / TROUBLESHOOTING
1-1. Operator Call Error (Blinking of Alarm Lamp)
Errors and warnings are displayed by the following ways:
- Operator call errors are indicated by the number of blinks of the Alarm lamp.
- Messages during printing from a PC are displayed on the printer driver Status Monitor.
- Error codes are printed in the "operator call/service call error record" area in EEPROM information
print.
Buttons valid when an operator call error occurs:
- ON button: To turn the printer off and on again.
- Color and Black buttons: To clear and recover from an error. In some operator call errors, the error
will automatically be cleared when the cause of the error is eliminated,
and pressing the Color or Black button may not be necessary.
- Stop button: To cancel the job at error occurrence, and to clear the error.

*1: To disable the scanner error detection and start the printer in the service mode, press the Stop button 6 times.

2) Start the Service Tool on the connected PC.

i. When a button is clicked in the Service Tool dialog box, that function is performed. During
operation of the selected function, all the Service Tool buttons are dimmed and inactive.
ii. When the operation is completed, "A function was finished." is displayed, and another function can
be selected.
iii. If a non-supported function is selected, "Error!" is displayed. Click OK in the error message dialog
box to exit the error.

(2) Simultaneous start of multiple Service Tool

From Service Tool V.4.904 or later, multiple Service Tools can start simultaneously on one PC.

Specifications:
i. A maximum of 10 Service Tools can start simultaneously on one PC.
ii. After connecting the printer with PC, start the printer in the service mode, and activate the Service
Tool.
iii. To discriminate each screen when activating multiple Service Tools simultaneously, a serial
number of the connected printer is displayed for each Service Tool screen (upper part of the
screen). For 2009 and earlier models, not the serial number of the printer but the USB serial
number is displayed.
When the Logic Board is replaced in repair servicing, the serial number of that printer is not
indicated with the display location blank.
iiii. If the USB cable is removed while using the Service Tool, the Service Tool no longer recognizes
the printer. To use the Service Tool again, close it and then restart.

3. SPECIAL NOTES ON SERVICING
3-1. Repair Servicing
For the MG2900 series, MG3000 series, E460 series, and E470 series, Product Exchange service should
be conducted in all the regions.

3-2. Bottom Margin

In the MG2900 series, MG3000 series, E460 series, and E470 series, borderless printing is not supported.
No printing is performed after the bottom edge of the paper is released from the LF roller.
For this reason, the bottom margin is approx. 17 mm (while it is approx. 5 mm in bordered printing with the
MG2200 series and MP230 series).

3-3. Print Head Alignment

When a print problem occurs such as when lines are broken, perform Print Head Alignment in the user
mode.

< How to perform Print Head Alignment >

1) Automatic alignment
Perform via the printer operation panel, or from the printer driver Maintenance tab.
Print the Print Head Alignment Pattern, and scan the printed pattern.
Note: Scanning of the printed pattern is likely to be omitted.
Be sure to fully advise users of this.

2) Manual alignment
Perform this alignment if the problem is not resolved by Automatic Print Head Alignment.
i. In the Maintenance tab of the Printer Properties, select Custom Settings.
ii. Select Align heads manually.
Note that the Manual Print Head Alignment is available only from the connected PC.
iii. In the Maintenance tab, select Print Head Alignment.
