1.2 Repair strategy

L2 repair doesn’t only care for all the repairs in L1, but also take responsibility of all the connecters

on board repair, exchange mechanicals and PCB as well as software upgrade which can change

the commercial reference of the device.

2 PRETEST AND VISUAL INSPECTION

a. Check modem aspect;


b. Insert SIM card and check its right fitting;
c. Insert the modem to PC and check display;
d. Check the function the end user complains about and the defective data card from L1 RCs.

3 SOFTWARE DOWNLOADING

Note: There is TPST tool for corresponding MW40V1 products, please ensure you select the right
directory to download the appropriate version,meanwhile need to power on the device
before upgrade。
a) Double click “TPST_TPW0070011_Setup.exe” to install the tool.

b) Double click to open TPST and input the password(123456) to enter the tool.

c) Select the image path.

d) Switch on the device and connect to PC, click “start” to upgrade device.

e) Finnish.

f) If power on the device after update,you need to remove and plug the battery or long
press the power button for 10 seconds to reboot the device.

Note: After software upgrading is finished, please disconnect your device from the computer,
Uninstall the old connection manager if it has been installed.
You can power on your device to experience the new software.

4 DISASSEMBLY&ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTION

4.1 ESD Safety

a) Do not start the disassembly process if without ESD protection, suggest sticking a warning
poster on the wall in the work room

b) Below is the ESD set up for the workbench in the work room

d) Detect the wrist strap is working good by using ESD wrist trap tester, as below

Low:< R<800KQ
Normal: 800KQ≤R≤9MQ
High: R>9MQ

4.4 L2 SPL for MW40V1

➢ Below table lists MW40V1 L2 spare parts, which is just for reference.

NOTE: The SPL here is just for reference. Actual Spare Part List depends on the CU reference.
Please check with RSH webshop or SCS system for the spare part list of specific CU.

4.5 Assembly

The assembly process is just reversing an order of disassembly.

This operation is illustrated in the following figure. The operator wears a conducting bracelet

connected to an anti-static pad placed on the work surface, itself connected to the workbench

metal structure, the whole being earthed.

4.6 Disassembly process evaluation

List the MW40V1 parts disassembly time, technique levels and disassembly methods as
below, for technique levels, Class 1 signifies easy to disassembly, Class 2 signifies
normal to disassembly and Class 3 signifies hard to disassembly.

5 BOARD EXCHANGE

In case of LEVEL 2 repair does not solve the failure, it is mandatory to change the board and apply
the following process:

1) Prize up the fault PCBA board away.

2) Get a new PCBA from swap stock, assemble it as a completed product, and upgrade software
finally.

3) Check the fault PCBA whether there are some components can be reused.

6 NOTE for defective PCBAs

All the defective PCBAs should be sent to RSH. If RSH send defective PCBAs for L3 repair,
please DO follow the packaging requirement mentioned in TN14011.
