1. General
A. Test Equipment.
B. Test Conditions.
(1) Testing is to be conducted at temperature of 50° to 90°F (10.0 to 32.2°C) with relative
humidity of 90% maximum.
2. Testing
CAUTION: PLACE THE TEST UNIT BEHIND A PROTECTIVE SHIELD THROUGHOUT THIS
TEST.
(1) Pressurize the unit to 125 +5/-0 psig with water for 1 minute through the two inlet fittings.
Use cold water for this test. Do not depress the faucet knob during this portion of testing.
(2) There shall be no visual internal or external leakage. External leakage is detected by water
dripping from the outside of the faucet and back side of the faucet; internal leakage is
detected by the faucet dripping from the aerator. After the 1 minute soak period reduce the
inlet pressure to 25 psig.
(1) With the drain valve on test stand closed apply water pressure to the unit and adjust it to 5 ±
1 psig. The maximum internal leak rate (leakage from aerator) shall be less than 5 drops
per minute.

COMPONENT MAINTENANCE MANUAL
PART NO. AR9027
(2) For AR9027-3D1DXXX and AR9027-3D3DXXX increase the inlet pressure to 25 ± 1 psig.
Push and rotate the faucet knob to ensure that the water is mixing properly and that water is
flowing from the aerator. When the faucet knob is depressed water shall appear at the
aerator, indicating that the air in the system has automatically bled off. With the knob in the
middle position between hot and cold, close the water supply line and open the vent line on
the test stand, the faucet and test system shall drain completely in less than 12 seconds,
indicating that the faucet is self-draining.
NOTE: Pressurize the unit to 25 ± 1 psig using both hot and cold water.
(1) Cold Water Timing: Rotate the faucet knob to the cold side, depress and hold the knob
down allowing water to flow for approximately ten seconds. After ten seconds allow the
knob to return to the off position (no water flow). With the knob in the same position depress
it to its full on position and allow it to return to the off position. Water shall flow for 5 to 9
seconds. Repeat the last step for a total of three times. Compute the average flow time by
adding all readings and dividing by three. The average flow time shall be the same as the
individual flow time of 5 to 9 seconds.
(2) Hot Water Timing: Rotate the faucet knob to the hot side, depress and hold the knob down
allowing water to flow for approximately ten seconds. After ten seconds allow the knob to
return to the off position (no water flow). With the knob in the same position depress it to its
full on position and allow it to return to the off position. Water shall flow for 5 to 9 seconds.
Repeat the last step for a total of three times. Compute the average flow time by adding all
readings and dividing by three. The average flow time shall be the same as the individual
flow time of 5 to 9 seconds.
NOTE: Pressurize the unit to 25 ± 1 psig using both hot and cold water. This test may be
performed at the same time as the water flow test.
(1) Cold Water Flow: Rotate the faucet knob to the cold side, depress the knob down allowing
water to flow from the aerator. Measure the flow from both the cold and hot inline flow
meters. The flow readings shall be as follows:

(2) Hot Water Flow: Rotate the faucet knob to the hot side, depress the knob down allowing
water to flow from the aerator. Measure the flow from both the cold and hot inline flow
meters. The flow readings shall be as follows:
(1) With both hot and cold water applied to the inlet ports, pressure the unit to 50 +5/-0 psig.
Depress and rotate the faucet button, verifying that water is flowing and the temperature is
changing at the aerator. Maintain this pressure for 1 minute to check internal and external
leakage. There shall be zero external leakage and 3 drops per minute maximum internal
leakage after the 1 minute soak period. The internal leakage will be detected as water
dripping from the aerator.
(1) Pressurize the unit with both hot and cold water to 50 +5/-0 psig through the two inlet
fittings. Depress and rotate the faucet knob, verifying that water is flowing and that the
temperature is changing at the aerator. Install the knob test fitting and torque wrench over
the knob.
(2) Rotate the knob to the cold side. Rotate the knob to the hot position and measure the force.
The force shall not exceed 5.0 in-lbs. torque.
(3) Rotate the knob to the hot side. Rotate the knob to the cold position and measure the force.
The force shall not exceed 5.0 in-lbs. torque.
(1) Pressurize the unit with both hot and cold water to 50 +5/-0 psig through the two inlet
fittings. Depress and rotate the faucet knob, verifying that water is flowing and that the
temperature is changing at the aerator.
(2) Rotate the knob to the cold side. Push the knob and measure the force. The force shall not
exceed 5.0 lbs.
