DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION

1. Description

A. The Galley Tank Assembly (tank assembly) is used to provide water to the faucet for the wash
basin. It is permanently installed in the galley and serviced through the aircraft’s service panel. It
is always vented to the cabin pressure (NOT pressurized) under all conditions, i.e. during
normal operation and servicing.

B. The tank assembly consists of fill and overflow ports, port for vent valve, level sensor, and outlet
port at the bottom of tank with manual shut-off valve.

2. Operation

A. The tank assembly’s outlet fitting is connected to the water system to feed water to the faucet.
The shut-off valve provides water isolation between the tank and water system when required.
The fill port is connected from the fill line to the fill port of the service panel. The overflow port is
connected from the overflow line to the overflow port of the service panel (see WARNING
below). The level sensor provides level signal to the controller which then feed the signal to the
CMS for the water level indication.

WARNING: THE TANK ASSEMBLY IS A NON-PRESSURIZED CONFORMAL TANK. BE

SURE THE OVERFLOW PORT IS OPEN AND UNCLOGGED PRIOR TO TANK
FILLING.

TESTING AND FAULT ISOLATION

1. General

This section contains test and fault isolation procedures. Test the Galley Tank Assembly before
disassembly to identify damaged parts, and after assembly to verify performance.

2. Conditions

All tests specified herein shall be performed under the following ambient conditions, unless
otherwise specified:

A. Temperature: +50°F to +86°F (10.0°C to +30.0°C)

B. Relative Humidity: 10% to 80%

C. Barometric Pressure): 25 to 31 inches of Hg (846.6 to 1049.8 millibars)

D. Altitude: Prevailing test site laboratory elevation

3. Test Equipment

The recommended test equipment and materials are located in Table 1001. The test equipment
shall be calibrated and certified in accordance with ISO 10012-1 or ANSI/NCSL Z540-1.

D. Connect the cable between the level sensor (50, IPL Figure 1) and the controller (PN 32612) to
the test set (PN F7054).

E. Provide power (28 VDC) to test box.

F. Set outlet pressure from test bench to 35 PSI and allow water to flow (fill the tank).

NOTE: Be sure to shut the valve on the bottom of the tank, the overflow hose is free to flow to
drain, and the port(s) on the vent fitting is capped.

(1) At initial water flow, all LEDs on test box should be out/unlit.

(2) After the water level reaches 2.5 ± 0.5 in. from the bottom of the tank, the LED at the ¼
position must be lit.

(3) After the water level reaches 4.6 ± 0.5 in. from the bottom of the tank, the LED at the ½
position must be lit.

(4) After the water level reaches 7.0 ± 0.5 in. from the bottom of the tank, the LED at the ¾
position must be lit.

(5) After the water level reaches 8.5 ± 0.5 in. from the bottom of the tank, the LED at the full
position must be lit. Continue to let water flow through the overflow hose.

G. Allow water to flow through the overflow hose for approximately 120 seconds. During this time
check for leakage around the tank including inserts, fittings, and around level sensor connector
and mounting plate.

H. Stop water flow to the tank and check for leakage around tank.

I. Open the valve on the bottom of the tank to drain.

(1) After the level lowered to 8.3 - 8.1 in., the LED for full should go out/unlit.

(2) After the level lowered to 6.8 - 6.6 in., the LED for ¾ should go out/unlit.

(3) After the level lowered to 4.4 - 4.2 in., the LED for ½ should go out/unlit.

(4) After the level lowered to 2.3 - 2.1 in., the LED for ¼ should go out/unlit.

(5) After the level lowered to 0.7 - 0.5 in., the LED for empty should go out/unlit.

J. Allow water to empty from the tank.

ILLUSTRATED PARTS LIST

1. Purpose

The Illustrated Parts List is intended for use in identification and requisition of replaceable parts and
assemblies for the Galley Tank Assembly.

2. Explanation and Usage of Section

A. If the part number is not known.

(1) Find the part in the exploded-view illustration.

(2) Note the item number assigned to the part.

(3) Refer to the parts list and find the item number in the FIG. ITEM column.

B. If the part number is known.

(1) Refer to the parts list or numerical index and find the part in the PART NUMBER column.

(2) Note the figure number and item number assigned to the part in the FIG. ITEM column.

(3) Refer to the illustration to identify attaching hardware and related assembly parts.

3. Numerical Index

The numerical index is an aid to find parts in the Detail Parts List by part number. The figure number,
the item number, and the total quantity required are given for each entry.

The part numbers are sorted one character at a time, from left to right. The correct sequence is (1)
dash, (2) letters A through Z, and (3) numerals 0 through 9.

4. Explanation of Detail Parts List Entries

The detailed parts list is arranged in general sequence of disassembly. The parts are illustrated in
an exploded-view illustration and listed in the related parts list.

A. FIG. ITEM Column.

The first number at the top of each FIG. ITEM column is the figure number of the illustration.
The number opposite each part number is the item number of the part in the illustration.

A dash (–) before an item number means that the part is not illustrated.

Alpha-variants A through Z (except I and O) are given to item numbers when necessary to
identify:

(1) Added parts.

(2) Alternate parts.

(3) Service bulletin modified parts.

B. PART NUMBER Column.

This column contains the manufacturer's part number for each part. It is possible that some part
numbers were changed to make them agree with ATA 2200. These changes can include:

(1) Removal of blank spaces and special characters, with the possible exception of dashes.
Dashes are permitted only between numeric characters.

(2) Replacement of the manufacturer's part number with a reference number. This is done if
the manufacturer's part number has more than 15 characters. The reference number will
agree with ATA 2200. The manufacturer's part number is then put in the
NOMENCLATURE column.

C. NOMENCLATURE Column.

(1) This column contains descriptive nomenclature for each part, and can also give the CAGE
code of the manufacturer (if the part is not made by Adams Rite Aerospace, Inc.), the part
number (if it is longer than 15 digits or modified to ATA 2200), any service bulletin that
affects the part, and any obsolete part numbers. The column also provides figure
references for NHA and details, and additional descriptive information as required.

(2) Assemblies, subassemblies, and detail parts subjected to modification, deletion, addition,
or replacement by an issued service bulletin are annotated to indicate both the pre- and
post-service bulletin configurations. The term (PRE SB XXXX) in the NOMENCLATURE
column identifies the original configuration, and the term (POST SB XXXX) identifies
assemblies and parts after the modification has been completed.
