LoRaWAN Overview
What is LoRaWan ?
➢ LoRaWAN is a media access control (MAC) protocol specification that use the LoRa technology. It is an open
standard, operating in the unlicensed ISM band.
➢ It is designed to allow low-powered devices to communicate with Internet-connected applications over long-
range wireless connections (wide area networks).
➢ LoRaWAN can be mapped to the second and third layer of the OSI model. It is implemented on top of LoRa or FSK
modulation
➢ LoRaWAN is a communication protocol defining a network architecture (device, gateway, server) and specific
frame format allowing a LoRaWAN device to transmit its data to a LoRaWAN server
