4. What Is It / Lesson
The teacher will discuss the following:
v=DnWzA432lwk) ꞏ Significance level (α) - is
denoted by α and is the probability of rejecting the

null hypothesis if it is true.

ꞏ The Critical or Rejection Region (RR) - is a

set of values of the test statistic for which the null
hypothesis is rejected in a hypothesis test.

 Acceptance Region (AR) – is noncritical

region.
 If the Z value falls in the middle region,
then the null cannot be rejected. If it falls
outside of a shaded area, then the null
hypothesis is rejected. That's why, as you
can see figure below the shaded portion is
called the rejection region.

i. Two-sided Test (Two tailed Test) - is a

statistical hypothesis test in which
the values for which we can reject
the null hypothesis, are located in
both tails of the probability
distribution.
ii. One-sided Test - statistical
hypothesis test in which the values
for which we can reject the null
hypothesis, are located entirely in
one tail of the probability
distribution.
iii. For a left-tailed test – the rejection
region lies under the left tail.
iv. For a right-tailed test - the rejection
region lies under the right tail.

the concept.)

5. What’s More
(The teacher let the students answer the
problem/activity found in the SLM and write their
output
on a piece of paper.)

6. What I Have Learned/ Generalization

The students are asked on what they have
learned based on the problem/activity
presented.
(The teacher also discussed further on the
important
points to consider about rejection region in
hypothesis.)

7. What I Can do
This activity encourages the learners to
develop
their skills in identifying rejection region,
discuss
briefly when to accept and reject null
hypothesis.
(The teacher used the problem presented in the
SLM
into differentiated activity for 3 groups and let
them
present their solutions).
Activity 1: Do me a favor! (based on the SLM page
12)
Activity 2: Professor Balenciaga!
Activity 3: You’ve got it!

Criteria/Indicators for Assessment: (The teacher will use

the 2 rubrics to assess the outputs of the learners).

What instance where this information/our lesson will
be helpful?

In statistics, hypothesis tests are used to test whether

or not some hypothesis about a population parameter
is true. To perform a hypothesis test in the real world,
researchers will obtain a random sample from the
population and perform a hypothesis test on the

sample data, using a null and alternative hypothesis.
Hypothesis tests are used in the real world such as in
Biology, in Clinical Trials, in Advertising Spend, and in
Manufacturing. For example, in Biology, when a
Biologist believes that a certain fertilizer will cause
plants to grow more during a one-month period than
they normally do, which is currently 20 inches. Also,
in clinical trials, when a doctor believes that a new
drug is able to reduce blood pressure in obsess
patients. And, in advertising spend when a company
believes that spending more money on digital
advertising leads to increased sales.
