High temperature working

It is suggested that, for temperatures above 35°C, the following guidelines are adopted as good
working practice:

(i) Store unmixed materials in a cool (preferably temperature controlled) environment, avoiding
exposure to direct sunlight.
(ii) Keep equipment cool, arranging shade protection if necessary. It is especially important to
keep cool those surfaces of the equipment, which will come into direct contact with the material
itself.
(iii) Try to avoid application during the hottest times of the day, arrange temporary shading as
necessary.
(iv) Make sufficient material, plant and labour available to ensure that application is a continuous
process.

Equipment
It is suggested that the following list of equipment is adopted as a minimum requirement.
Protective clothing : Protective overalls
: Good quality gloves, goggles and face mask
Preparation equipment : Stiff wire brush
: Soft brush
: Air compressor
Application equipment : Brush / Roller / Squeegee

Section B : Application Method

1.0 Preparation

1.1 Clean the surface free of oil, grease and all loosely adhering particles, by stiff wire brushing.

1.2 Follow step 1 by soft brushing and blowing of dry, oil-free compressed air.

2.0 Application

2.1 Stir the contents of the drum thoroughly.

2.2 Apply one coat of Nitoproof 30, using a brush, squeegee or roller at a minimum rate of
200microns per coat.

2.3 Apply the second coat at right angle to the first, after the first coat has dried fully
(approximately 4hours from application).

2.4 Damaged areas of Nitoproof 30 can be readily overcoated to restore the continuity of the
membrane.

3.0 Cleaning

3.1 Immediately after application, clean all tools and equipment with clean water. If the product
dries on the tools, use Fosroc Solvent 102.

Section C : Approval and variations

This method statement is offered by Fosroc as a ‘standard proposal’ for the application of Nitoproof
30. It remains the responsibility of the Engineer to determine the correct method for any given
application.

Where alternative methods are to be used, these must be submitted to Fosroc for approval, in
