Question Question from Preston Collins Skender Construction LLC on Monday, Oct 30, 2023 at 08:25 AM CDT
In the elevator machine room there are 2 - A/C Split Units that cool the elevator machine room. These units were installed
during the elevator modernization project and currently are fed from the Penthouse panel that is scheduled to be demoed.
These units will need to be re-fed, but they are not accounted for in new panel schedule.
Is it acceptable to feed these 2 units that will require (2) 2 pole 30amp breakers to be installed in panel PHELP1. See
attached for A/C name plate.

The UH-09 has a 27.1 MBH capacity, roughly 8 KW. Per the updated PHELP1 panel schedule, the amperage and voltage
won't be enough to get the required capacity of 8 KW. See the attached schedule and select the heater that will work with the
new panel. These heaters are available with minimum lead time.

Response from Kaustubh Kridutta Skender Construction LLC on Wednesday, Nov 1, 2023 at 08:07 AM CDT
Since we are changing the panel board and transformer to accommodate the split A/Cs, can we also accommodate the
change of the UH-09 gas heater to an electric heater per the RFI #121 (see attached) so that we don't have to build a soffit
and make changes on the 17th floor?

TES response:
In the penthouse P-01, in place of the specified UH-09 gas unit heater, use
a 7.5KW, 208V, 3 phase electric unit heater similar to model MUH-07-8 in
the attached selection chart. Provide a 30A/3P CB in panelboard PHELP1
and 3#10, 1#10G, 3/4"C to serve the new electric unit heater via a 30A/3P
non-fused disconnect switch.
Regarding the existing heat pump split systems serving the elevator
machine room, the Contractor shall confirm that the requested 30A/2P CB
will be adequate ampacity to serve each existing system, noting that this
existing equipment nameplate indicates 35A MOCP.
