No. F. l7-912023-Coord. (Pt) Dated 19th December, 2023

0-A+r"lrA ot1at6,"-. ) h,
The Government of India vide Ministry of Home Affairs notification no. F.No.
L70141212022-IS-VII dated 09.01.2022 has decided to commemorate 26th December
every year as "Veer Baal Diwas" to pay homage to the great valour and supreme
sacrifice of Sahibzada Zorawar Singh and Sahibzada Fateh Singh, the younger
sons of the tenth Sikh Guru Gobind Singh ji, on 26th December, 1705, at the tender
age of 9 and 6 years respectively, in their quest for justice.

2. In order to commemorate Veer Baal Diwas on 26th December 2023, I would

request that appropriate interactive and pafticipative programmes may be conducted
during the run up to the day in all schools in your State/UT to inform and educate
students about the contextualised story of the exemplary courage of the Sahibzadas.
Special assemblies dedicated to the theme may be held, shoft films on Veer Baal Diwas
may be shown, stories recounting the valour of the Sahebzade may be narrated.
Students may be encouraged to express their thoughts on the theme across
multifarious platforms such as debates, poems, essays, paintings and so on.

3. As paft of this endeavour, courageous feats of students of the local area may
also be thought of and celebrated. This would serve not only as a source of inspiration
but would create local role models for our students. Further, activities particularly
aimed at encouraging students to come up with ideas for shaping the future trajectory
of the nation may also be organised in schools.

4. Digital exhibitions may also be set up at schools and programmes may be

organised. A digital exhibition curated by Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India shall be
shared. The same may be printed in appropriate size and displayed at a prominent
the school premises. It could also be put on the social media platforms and shared on
the whatsapp groups of teachers and students.

5. An interactive quiz would be uploaded on MyGov/My Bharat portals, the link for
which will be shared in due course. Students may be encouraged to participate in the
quiz in maximum numbers.

6. Suggestive guidelines for commemoration of the event are enclosed for your
ready reference (Annexure). A report about the follow-up action taken in the matter
would be highly appreciated.
