Insights about the TEDx talk CPL-1

By: John Elmer S. Pagsisihan, Adrian Baluyut

Pagsisihan: After watching the TEDx talk of Samia Khan on the impact of social media, I realized the
immense power it holds over our lives. The pressure to present a perfect image and seek validation
through likes and comments is really overwhelming. It's easy to get caught up in the virtual world,
forgetting the importance of real-life experiences. I've made a conscious decision to be more
mindful of my social media usage, prioritizing authenticity and genuine connections over seeking
validation. It's crucial to acknowledge the highs and lows of life, and I've started to appreciate the
beauty of imperfection and realness in both my own posts and those I interact with on social media.

Baluyut: Samia Khan's talk about social media really got me thinking. The stats about how much
time college students spend on these platforms hit close to home. The whole idea of social media
being designed to keep us hooked is eye-opening – I could see that in my own habits. Her point
about positive posts affecting self-esteem struck a nerve. It's time to be intentional about what I
share and break away from the perfection facade. I'm inspired to bring more authenticity to my
online presence, sharing both the ups and downs. It's about creating real connections in a world
that often feels too curated.
